Calisthenics for 6 Months, Progress Slower Than What is Normal

Me too. IIRC, Carb has/had a pretty respectable squat.

Sounds like the injury/rehab section would be a better fit for you.

@Chris_Colucci hey maybe you could start a section for odd limb lengths and people with weirdly shapes bodies, just a thought. I mean, since it’s so important to ones training approach, there should be a section for it…right?

Close, but the music room is adjacent to my gym…i used to have it in the same room, but once i got the back extension it was just too much crammed in one room.

Since you conveniently side-stepped this question.

Didn’t expect to stir up a bees nest shitting on pistols, itellyouwot.

Probably my fault, tbh. I tend to get distracted and down on my horrendous clavicles, and sometimes can’t see what’s right in front of my face.

Don’t be so modest, man. Take credit where credit is due.

I think the bottom line here is that nobody does everything, and the basic ‘excuse’ of ‘I don’t want to do it’ or ‘it’s too hard for me’ really should be considered reasonable. I don’t run or jump much because my knees hurt so much. It’s hard for me. I don’t perform snatches because my mobility sucks and I don’t feel like fixing it to the extent I would need to for this to be viable lift for me. This list can go on and on, as it would for all of us. There’s just not room for every accessory movement in training. We all pick the things we would benefit most from, whether it’s mentally or physically, or both, and we do those things. Crazy that this is even a topic of discussion.

Kinda funny how he replied to every post except the simplest one asking how much his barbell squat was
I do ZERO pistol squats and I squat 445
You do ZERO pistol squats and squat 550
@Frank_C does 1 or 2, doesn’t like them and squats 370

I know a kid who can bench 450 for 10-12, and (prolly) cant do a single pull-up because that’s not what he trains for and probably wouldnt like that training style. When I fought Muay Thai I could do AMRAP pullups for 25+, now I cap off at 8-10 but I’m stronger than I’ve ever been.

I don’t think bodyweight training is the best litmus test or measurement for strength, toughness, or “fucking t in tnation”

Would I do pistol squats if I didnt have access to a proper gym? Prolly

I find this hilarious even if it’s at my expense! :joy:

I’ve deadlifted 545 and power cleaned 315. There’s your proof that we’re all a bit different and excel at different things.

Why not both? I still train when I’m injured.

I think you have tunnel vision. You can’t seem to stop calling me out (ignorantly). It’s baffling to me because I’ve never interacted with you until this thread.

Like, do I owe you rent for living in your head?

Funny enough, I only ever did pistol squats BECAUSE I was injured. I made it easier by standing on a plyo box and letting the non-training leg hang free.

Which was helpful, since it was in a knee brace.

I held on to the side of the power rack for balance.

But then I decided to just do 1 legged hatfield squats instead. Mainly because pistols are stupid.

This is what I’ve been doing. I just call them step ups. I guess the difference from most step ups is that I don’t push off my bottom foot; I just barely tap the ground.

I thought the pistol part was sticking the non-working leg straight out.

Once we started saying you could do pistols with bands to assist on balance I realized we were having some sort of reverse “no true scotsman” where EVERYTHING is a pistol.

And really, arguing over who is doing the best one legged squat variation is like debating over which bleach is the safest to drink.

Man I got the notification at lunch earlier and was gonna fire back at this dude for the

I mean, how dare he call me, a stranger, something so vulgar over the internet! Who does that?!

But looks like everyone else took care of it.

Just to throw flame onto an extinguished fire, remember when that dude said he needed 17m squared for a training space? Just got this from the Ironmind product catalogue today

This is the most bizarre call-out ever. So random. And such a strange place for it.

Won’t work. He’s sleeps under the stairs like Harry Potter. Doesn’t have the vertical clearance.

This has been my point all along. Be honest with yourself!!

You don’t want to do it? Awesome.

You don’t want to do it but blame your femur? Garbage.

Now I feel better. What weight do you compete at?

The t in tnation is for tearing people apart for lame excuses…thats how it used to be around here.

The name of the section would be “side show”.

It’s impressive that between posting in all these sections here on tn you still have time for training and for a well-rounded and meaningful life.

You don’t seem to understand why I’m calling you out…I’m maintaining what this website had been about for so long. That’s what this website was, a place where nobody gets to slide by. Make one lame excuse and you would hear about it.

You still haven’t said how long your femur is or how it got measured, or if it’s some magical ratio. And I’m genuinely curious.

Let me guess, you’re a hardgainer too?
