Calisthenics for 6 Months, Progress Slower Than What is Normal

What is the reason for what? Sorry. Don’t understand.

Agreed. But most big, strong people bench press more than their bodyweight. It’s hard to do calisthenics with 200% of your bodyweight.

We don#t have to get that far, @dagill2
It still possible. Nobody talks about 200 kg push ups.

The fact you don’t think that program will have better results compared to your previous efforts is why you should not trust your own thoughts on the matter of training.

Now you’re jus saying I am dumb and I should listen to others.
Though you said don’t listen to summaries of studies by others.

200% Is not 200kg for most people. But nit picking aside, you are correct, no-one talks about 200kg push ups. The reason for this is that no-one does them. They bench instead.

Negative: I am saying you should not trust what you think about training. That you think a push up is the same as benching 70% of bodyweight is proof of concept. One is open chain and one is closed chain. They do not map 1 to 1.

Yes. You can grow good amount of muscles with calithenics. Of course you can, why wouldn’t you?

@T3hPwnisher Open or closed, there won’t be a huge difference in muscle activation, right?

Different emphasis for sure. The necessary planking effort of a push up compounds things, whereas a bench press gives you a bench to brace against. Angles are different too. They don’t map 1 for 1.

In addition, weights scale much eaiser than bodyweight. If you can only do 2 pull ups, you will develop more muscle using pulldowns and rows compared to only hitting 2 pull ups and a bunch of negatvies. Far greater potential to accumulate volume.

No one has claimed otherwise.

I am saying bodyweight workouts will not let YOU achieve YOUR goals.

If you want to argue against that, you can. However, you tried it and it didn’t work, by your own admission, so here we are.

Meanwhile, that program I gave you will work. But you won’t ever run it, because you would rather be right than have muscle muscle muscle.

And that’s cool: we all have our goals. When your goal is to have muscle muscle muscle, run that program.

I’m just looking for muscle muscle. Is it good for that too?

You have a lot more patience than I do, i applaud you.
