Poliquins article also does shed some light of the measurements he got of current pro’s and there arm size reported to the measurements he got were about one to three inches smaller.
I would also assume that many bodybuilders would give their off season measurements if asked. It is very common to lose an inch or more while contest dieting. Most of these guys look MUCH bigger and more filled out when off season. Jo Jo Ntforo has off season pics on his site and his arms appear to be at least an inch larger or more than when in contest condition.
Good Point, though I believe this to illustrate the need for being more specific in ones detailing of elements behind the measurements. Maybe a below 8% bodyfat clause to go with all measurements (i realise this leaves me out of the equation (for the moment)).
194 5’8"
calfs are 16"

I doubt that body fat, unless it is excessive is going to drastical change a measurement of the arm. The body simply doesn’t store that much fat in the arms. If it were a waist measurement, it could be signifigantly different.
Most of the size loss that bodybuilders experience for contest is in cell volume. They are not dropping from 20% body fat to 3% contest shape.
They are shredding what little is there combined with dehydration of all other tissue.
bumped…for entertainment value. ![]()
Hmmm…I don’t know what mine are, but I’m suddenly curious.
(Runs downstairs to get measuring tape)
And the numbers are in- 15.5" on both sides.
Presently at 6’1"ish and 201 lbs.
5’8 207lbs
18 1/2 inch calfs
I’m a farm boy and i only sport 14" arms. but i’m really skinny too so that could be more of a culprit.
height: 5’9
weight: 176
calf size: 15 1/4
i’d say box squats and dead lifting have helped tremendously.

I dont work out calfs more then about once every 3 months… Used to mountain bike and weigh more I think is what helped me out.

haven’t measured them in a while but last time they were around 19 inches…i don’t work them mostly due to an old foot injury, but i walk around 10 miles a day at work…
LOL that was just there cuz I had 207 on my last post I know weight has nothing to do with it…LMAO
5’7" 178 lbs.
calves 16"
After the prejudging at my only BB contest, two judges told me I had the best calves in the class of 10 competitors. I really appreciated this compliment since I’ve busted my ass for any development at all.
6 ft 4
225
17.5 calves
I saw the arm size thread was resurrected, so I just had to dust off this classic. ![]()

i was basically set up by my boss and fellow employees who were attending the seminar. my boss is good friends with Charles, so he told him that i hate my calves, and wanted Charles to single me out. boy did he ever…
he called me up in front of the class, and told me to lift my pant leg so he could do some measurements…i hesitated, and even fought a bit to sit down and not participate but he held me up there.
when i unleashed the mighty calf, he snickered and made a comment about my calves looking like an “ostrich” or something…i simply tucked my calf back in and headed back to my seat…
not fun.

You should’ve asked him if he’d ever been kicked by an ostrich.
