That is an argument for caffeine!

Anyone try l-theanine along with their caffeine?

It makes me happy, but it also makes me a little spacey and not as driven so great for off days I guess.
I’m drinking coffee right now. I have 2 favorite coffee cups. This one has 3 grasshoppers on it and it says “Congratulations, we’re hoppy for you!”.
I’d rather have a guy/girl bring me a cup of good coffee than give me flowers. Especially when I’m at work.
I have this weird thing about getting rid of coffee cups that past lovers have given me. Once the coffee cup goes they are officially part of the past.

So how many cups have you thrown out?
Good God ! There are people who DONT drink coffee? Fresh Guatemalan coffee is the elixir of life. They will have to pry my coffee away from my cold dead hands.
Idaho, where are you from?
Go to Big City (Grove and 15th) if it happens to be Boise. The bottomless cup full of their Brazilian is a hell of a thing.

When I quit for a couple to a few months, I never got back the focus that 16-32oz of coffee a day gave me.

Please elaborate?

I was just kind of spacier and not as driven. Before I would drink 1-2 12oz coffee cups. Usually one as soon as waking and one late morning. So that’s actually 12-24oz now that I think about it. I forgot coffee cups were smaller. [/quote]
Interesting.
Since my initial 4 day detox of zero caffeine, I have been allowing myself one coffee every second morning. On the days that I do drink coffee, I am alert and have good energy most of the day. The days that I do not drink coffee I am a little more tired and struggle to concentrate 100% and my workouts are less in quality/intensity. I no longer suffer from the intense headaches.
Im now thinking I might have to detox for a little longer. I want to be able to concentrate and focus on days when I don’t drink coffee. Thoughts?

4 days is not long enough. Go two weeks with zero caffeine, minimum. You need to own this thing mentally, not physically. Just because you pass the headache doesn’t mean you made it through…smokers deal with cravings YEARS after quitting sometimes.
This has that same mental toughness factor that some of those ball busting workouts you read use to toughen you up.

A few - I try to give them back if I can. like my most recent ex I left all his coffee cups and containers on his truck at work so could get rid of them without seeing him.
Some I’ve sold in yard sales or coerced my coworkers into adopting them. Like the Lizzie Borden mug that an ex gave me that I was too superstitious to drink out of. I’ve only kept one.
In fact I just realized I haven’t had a cup of coffee yet today - time to brew!
I did juice fast last year where I went 2 weeks without coffee or caffeine. I was laid out for a good 2 days with migraines and puking. By the end of the first week I had more energy and focus. I no longer have the physical craving, and I still don’t drink more than 2 cups per day. I could go without completely but I love the taste.
-coffee ice cream
-Dannon coffee yogurt
-tiramisu
Next on my list of experiments - coffee fudge

That sounds just evil.

You are right.
I will go 2 weeks without coffee once my soccer season is over in a few weeks time. At the moment I need the caffeine to help with performance. I will be limiting it to 5 coffees a week.

So according to the above article, 12 days is the magic number.

4 days since my last coffee and I am finally staring to feel like I have some energy.
This morning I woke up intending to have a coffee before heading to the gym. I woke up late and missed the gym, so I decided to skip the coffee. For the first few hours in the morning i felt a little sluggish but at about 10am it felt like someone turned on a light switch, and finally I am feeling like myself again.
My name is bird, and this is my story.

Go for it.
I have a cup of green tea every morning with 4 teabags in it. I may be addicted to caffeine too.
Going caffeine-less over the years absolutely sucks. I’ve cut it out for a couple months at a time over the years since I was 18…I’m 36 now.
Some people are wired neurologically so that ones general well being is GREATLY enhanced by caffeine.
Caffeine Forever.
You know when coffee makes you want to run to the bathroom? Anyone have any tricks on dealing with/preventing coffee from purging the stomach? Not a good feeling when it happens, and I’ve read it can dump stomach acid and undigested food into the intestines, which can cause damage…
When I would make my own preworkouts out of bulk ingredients I got up to 400 mg of caffeine per workout…but I’m weening myself off as we speak with just 6 oz of coffee
