You know when coffee makes you want to run to the bathroom? Anyone have any tricks on dealing with/preventing coffee from purging the stomach? Not a good feeling when it happens, and I’ve read it can dump stomach acid and undigested food into the intestines, which can cause damage…
Coffee is a major gastric stimulant.
In other words, you may as well learn to love that part of it. Did you know shitting is a good thing to do?

Stimulating the digestive system isn’t necessarily a good thing. Persitalsis is supposed to just happen on it’s own. If you having poop troubles I feel bad for you son. I got 99 problems but a shit aint one.
Some people have magic relief of joint problems when they give up coffee. No one really knows why. I wonder if this doesn’t have to do with the fact that the resultant decrease in intestinal inflammation (from not having stomach juices prematurely purged), allows the body to better deal with whole body inflammatory response.
As a side note, I recently had my DNA tested (23andme) and one of the things I learned is that I am a slow caffeine metabolizer. I’m in the group of folks (from the studies) which have an increased heart attack risk due to this. Dr. John Berardi just did an interesting write up about titled “Coffee: Your Poison or Your Medicine?” on Huffington Post Coffee: Your Poison or Your Medicine? | HuffPost Life

Thanks for patronizing me by calling me son because I don’t mind that coffee makes me shit in an ultra-predictable manner.
I’m hoping you weren’t offended. It was meant to be taken as a joke. Sorry if you didn’t like it or catch the reference I was making. The regularity which coffee brings you is all right with me…
I have had some VERY interesting improvements in my tolerance to caffeine and coffee. I’ve been doing a “gut health protocol” for about a week or two. As a result of this, it seems, coffee and caffeine DO NOT had the same violent effect on me. Even tea had been causing a good bit of discomfort (though nothing violent), I suspect caused by a high amount of tannins, which seem to have a stripping effect for those with weak linings. Because of this I had given up tea for a while. Feeling much better now, and as a result, preliminarily at least, it seems I am able to drink tea and coffee again (in moderation for now!) So stoked!
Oh, and I suspect it is the zinc and glutamine in the “gut health protocol” which have had the biggest positive impact, though I’ve also taken stuff to decrease inflammation. My morning “stiffness” (arthritis feeling, not morning wood!) which comes and goes (and I thought this was just something I had to deal with) was recently stronger than usual. Coffee definitely seemed to be making it worse. Now I’m better!? Fuck yeah! Anyways, the thing that has drastically reduced my morning stiffness has been olive leaf tea. I’ve been taking it 2-3 times daily. Been doing this for about 3 weeks. Nothing special, just dried olive leaves minced up, and brewed. Easy peazy, and overall stiffness is way down. Also included EPA, DHA, GLA for improved prostaglandins. I’m theorizing that with the olive leaf effect of getting “out-of-control inflammation” way down, the zinc and glutamine has been able to do its job to heal my villi. Also have taken vitamin A, low sugar, and no gluten… I slept only 5 hours last night, and feel like a million bucks right now!
And for all who may have thought I was a coffee hater, I’m not!
Coffee is also really acidic so that can cause stomach problems. If you still want coffee and that’s the problem than you can buy a lowland coffee like Sumatra. You’re highland coffees are going to usually be most acidic. There’s also low acid folgers and stuff like that but I think that coffee tastes like mud.
hay gents I am the new guy here haha and couldn’t figure out were else to pose this
but I was wondering how detrimental dipping was to my workouts and gains in the gym and advice would be greatly appreciated.
I am fully convinced that coffee is a very individual thing, throw out all the recommended “you should drink X amount of cups a day” and just see how you tolerate it personally.
My dad used to drink 6 espressos a day, 3 in the morning, and 3 when he got home from work. He had no issues with sleeping or jitters, in fact, the mother fucker would snore so loud you would wonder how the paint was still on the wall in the morning.
I love coffee, but it kills my stomach, so I make it rare.
