Butt Wink and Low Back Pain (Video)

For the past 3 months, I’ve has low back pain. I have trouble bending forward because it is painful and there isn’t much mobility. Yesterday, my back was feeling ok so I decided to try and squat the bar. I noticed my butt winking. Could this be the cause?

I’m not Stuart McGill so take my comments with a grain of salt. Your form looks good, but from what I can tell you are “winking” before you break parallel–which implies a tight hip girdle.

I do have tight hips, and I’ve also noticed my upper hamstring is pretty balled up. But everytime I stretch those areas, my lower back tightens up even more and I notice less mobility when I try to bend forward. I don’t get it!

It doesn’t tighten as I’m stretching, but a little afterwards my low back just turns into a rock

I just rehabbed the same injury.

Do hack machine squats until you recover. (I couldn’t use leg press. it was too hard on my low back.

I detailed it all in my log too. It was a few pages back from where I am now (around page 23?).

if you haven’t tried hip abduction and adduction machines, try. I think it somehow helps.
