Bursting Blood Vessels

im deadlifting around 520 max and today i did 500 for two reps. when i came home i noticed a lot of burst blood vessels on my face
will the red dots on my face get worse as i get stronger or stay about the same

If your not burting blood vessels in eyes, nose etc somewhere ever then you are NOT trying hard enough.

Its going to happen bro if you really push the envelope.

Uhhh you need to go to the doctor, you probably did burst something in your face.

seriously though, see a doctor.

It’s happened to me before, twice. Both times benching…seem to go away after about 4 or 5 days

Not really. If it looks serious then by all means. But if it looks like nothing more than a heart puke session does with red dots and splotches, then it doesn’t matter.

That’s what happens when you’re holding your breath straining against a heavy weight.

Were the dots mainly around your eyes and cheekbones?

I believe those are called petechiae, which are just burst capillaries. I’m pretty sure it had to do with your spiked blood pressure as a result of your lifts.

How would I know this? My friend used to get them pretty much every Friday night (after a nice bout of drinking). It looks stupid, but they go away after a few days.

I’ve read you should probably get it checked by a doctor, as it may be a symptom of an underlying problem, but my friend survived last year getting them pretty consistently. I’d say if it keep happening, get it checked out. If not, mention it next time you decide to get a checkup.

Hope this helps.

Was he puking out his intestines?

Any time I’ve thrown up from drinking I’ve had this.

I got these on my forearms once…

Where them like a badge of honour dude. And fuck the docotor.

Happened to my eye one time from holding my breath on zercher yoke carries.

Breathe!

Try breathing next time you’re going for a max squat or deadlift and see what happens. Especially in the squat when you should vbe forcing your stomach out hard against the belt.

It’s not exactly high on my list of priorities when all other things are taken into consideration (I know it should be in a perfect world but… well but I’d rather hit a PR than worry about some facial brusing)

It’s all part of the lifting for strength game. When I go for a max on deads or squats, I’ve had them on my face, neck, shoulders and chest. I’ve also gotten bloody noses, burst blood vessels in my eyes, even ruptured the membrane in my ears. Now when I go under water I can blow bubbles out of my ears. Don’t worry about it. You know you are pushing to your limits

good job!! keep up the heavy pullin’

meat

You ruptured your ear membranes lifting? How did that happen?

LOL the pressure bro.

I had done all the others he listed up until two weeks ago I do believe it was and POP something in my right ear on a max DL pull. No real pain just weird feeling like I was pressing the inside of my ear out. Small bit of blood came out.

No worries finised the w/o and no pain since.

thats cool ill just remember to breathe next time
one thing that worried me is that my friends mother is a nurse and she says that the could become permanent if it happens to often. something to do with valves in the blood vessels
yea they were mainly around my eyes, forehead, and cheekbones there were very few on my neck and shoulders

awesome i just looked up petechiae on the internet there’s no big deal it says there insignificant except as a sign of low blood platelets which probably isnt the case bc i was deadlifting when i got them

Yup. Not just regular old puking, though, he went at it like a pro.

they go away, if they’re in the eyes you might want to get them looked at. I saw someone who was benching burst lots of blood vessels in their eyes, they went completley red.

Been there, done that. I did it while squatting tho. Took about 10 days to go away for me. My eye went red>yello>normal. I love d it!
