You are looking pretty strong right now dude! I would be too fried to deadlift after all the extra stuff before.I have to do the nap thing after a BM. I’ve got a feeling you’ve just started tapping into the well big guy.[/quote]
Hey BB!! Thanks brother, that means a lot coming from someone as knowledgeable and experienced as yourself. (That’s funny… nap after a BM…snicker)
Hooked up with W.E.C. and the rest of his crew last night for some training.
All I can say is “WOW”!!- W.E.C. is a super nice guy, and a true gentleman. He took the time to really show and explain to me things I did not know and have never considered… and his excitement and motivation is infectious. His whole crew are the same way, and I am blessed that they allowed me to train with them last night. I had a lot of fun, and hope I will be invited to train with them again.
Unfortunately, Ouro… he did not have the hot tub up and running last night. It was probably a good thing, seeing as I brought him flowers… bottle of wine and an uncut version of Brokeback Mountain.
Anywaaaaaays…
MARCH 14th
BENCH NIGHT
First time ever using a bench shirt last night, and the first time in 2 years I actually trained with other powerlifters. Excellent guys, taught me a great deal, and I can see how lifting in a bench shirt can be addictive. One of the guys there (I am sure you cn guess who) last night benched 785… like it was nothing. Unbelievable.
Tried on all sorts of shirts, (1, 2, 3 ply and denim) had them explained to me, how they work, the differences etc. Some of those contraptions are crazy!
The shirt I was wearing (Katana 1 ply) was allegedly a little too big for me… which is funny seeing as I am 260 pounds… but the guy (I am sure you can guess who) I borrowed it from is 320… so… here is what happened…
warm up
135x10
185x10
225x3
275x3
(shirt on)
315x3 (too light)
365x2 (super fast)
405x2 (super easy!)
made some adjustments to the shirt, critiqued my technique…
340x1 (technique rep)
405x1 (confirmation- fast and easy)
405x1 (just because havin’ fun)
I wanted to keep going heavier, but cooler (and more experienced) heads prevailed, and decided I should wait until next session. With the way 405 went up, I felt like I was good for another 50-75 pounds easy I think.
Then pulled 545 deadlift for a rep just because one of the guys was deadlifting and I was pumped.
Then spotted one of the guys… you know who… while he made his way up to 785 pound bench… incredible.
All in all, a memorable night. Had a smile on my face all the way home
