Yeah… maybe I will try a strongman meet in the near future… but right now I would like to keep focus on my first 3 lift powerlifting meet…
Had a cheat day off my nutrition plan yesterday, couple of pounds of water weight this morning…

What #'s are you shooting for at the meet? That was some nice dl’in. Question…Leg press…10 plates a side or 10 plates total? I know it’s just a leg press. I’m just curious. Oh, and do you use a full movement? I know when I do them, that’s what I strive for. I see alot of people at my gym load up the press, then do the equivalent of a quarter-squat. I try to make sure my knees are at least even with my hips, you know, like a squat!!!
Thanks for dropping in Rug. I will be competing RAW. I am aiming for a 1410-1450 total, 500 squat, 350 bench and a 600 d/l as the benchmark.
The legpress was just an accessory, and I was trying to get a stretch at the bottom, so it was just 10 plates total (450lbs). I keep knees pressed out to the sides and bring the sled down as far it will go, so yeah, full movement.

Looking strong Bunny. Did you see the Bruins tank?? Up 3 games to 0. Up 3 goals to 0 in game seven. Then lose it. Sad. [/quote]
Thanks ECO… Yeah, that was horrible. I just hope the Habs don’t win the cup now, their fans will never shut the hell up…
Well… yesterday was 43 years I have been on this planet, didn’t do anything special, went to work etc etc… gonna have a few friends over on the weekend perhaps… I have no idea what that is in Bunny years… feels like 150

I’m writing those numbers down for the meet. I’d like see if we can get you to crap on the final pull. Just a head’s up. Bring a depends.
Thanks for all the birthday wishes… and stopping by… Ourboro, I have no doubt you and your boy toy will push me to my fullest potential… getting excited about my first 3 lift meet. Just hope I don’t dissapoint anyone, including myself. And no, that does not mean crappin’ my drawers J!!
OH… got my birthday present last night too… tickets to see the Bears crush the Bills here in Toronto Nov.7!!

475x1
435x1

FRONT SQUATS
225 X 5 X 1 paused at bottom
HYPERS WITH MONSTER RED BANDS AROUND NECK
5 sets to failure (last set x 12)
ABS AND CALVES
crunches with 60 lb kettlebell, hanging leg raises and calf raise circuit
Trying to decide if I am gonna go and do strongman training today… feel kinda drained…
…but ended up cutting the grass, cleaning the garage, sanding down the 2 garage door frames and the front entrance door frame, sanded down 2 muskoka chairs and a table… then had to wash the bride’s car before she came home because I covered it in dust and paint chips… sanded down the lamp post on our walkway…
the moral of the story???
Power tools in the hand of a person who is obsessive compulsive and a short attention span can be a bad… or good thing…
REVERSE HYPERS WITH RED BANDS- SUPERSETTED WITH STANDING AB CRUNCHES WITH RED BANDS
4 sets to failure back to back
I have decided that I do not like the 5/3/1 the way it is laid out… but have a few ideas to tweek it which I think will better suit me. I will lay it out after this competition.

I like how your opener is 260lbs more than mine.
What was you final pull last summer? I can’t remember the exact number. How does it compare to what you plan to do this time?
Belle River was around 620 if I remember right, and at the WPFG it was 635 I believe.
I have just finished 7 months of 5/3/1, and do not like the results, I feel that my capacity for higher reps with heavier weights has increased, but my overall max single has not… at least as far as I can tell.
Maybe that will change with the juices flowing of an actual meet. When I pick something up, whether it be squat, bench or dead, close to my 1 rep max from previous, it feels real damn heavy. I think my CNS is not used to it. Plus, a few nagging injuries over the last few months…
But… excuses are like a**holes, everyone has one… Gonna go and have some fun anyways and revamp my training after the meet.
Looking forward to seeing your total. I bet you’re gonna kick ass and set some PRs. Weren’t you doing the program you and Meat came up with for your last meet?? That seemed to work real well for you.

No… I was following Meats program (he designed for me) for almost a year, and switched to 5/3/1 for the last 7 months… then about 4 weeks ago I tried some maxes… and was not impressed. My bench and my squat went down… and my deadlift was about the same, but with more of a struggle. I am pissed off to put it lightly.
Too late to change anything now… will go and bust my ass… but I have a few ideas for the program I will be putting together after this meet.
