Oh, and so much for the ‘Military’s will fuck up your shoulders’ crowd, eh? Around here, all us old folks seem to have no problem with them.[/quote]
yeah, i avoided them for years thinking that it would hurt my shoulders. now, after doing them for a year, my shoulders are fine, and I am still a weak presser. i feel cheated
Thanks for stopping by MJ and ||Rug, as well as the kind words… my shoulders have been giving me problems for years now, but just live with it now…

I keep forgetting that they have weight classes as big as 275. I had to get out my calculator to figure out the kilos. Basically, you are two of me wrapped up in a shiny red singlet.
Have you had a think about your attempts yet? I guess you will be heading down the night before.
Way to go on the weight loss. I’m doing all I can to tread the line of staying at the top without going over. It’s just like the Price is Right.

It all looks good. I hope you have as much fun as you did last year. Regardless of performance, it should be a lot of fun.
I called last night to book a hotel but I couldn’t understand what the woman was saying. Mind you, I’d just given blood and was hungry as hell.
TNT- Does that mean I can skip todays session??? lol!
OB- You it the nail on the head. My first 3 lift meet, I wanna do well, but have fun. I am sure we will…
Finally received my CPU card. Gonna send meet registration form in Monday with $$, and book a hotel.
Attneded a fundraiser last night for the World Police and Firefighter Games in New York for 2011… good times. Deviated a bit from my nutrition plan, (read cheat night) but did not go to crazy. Hade a few whiskey and ice with a squirt of water… some bad foods… but damn it was good.
BW tis morning = 272, just water.
Going to go and do some strong man stuff this afternoon at my buddy’s place.
Metal log presses and cleans, tire flipping, weighted pulls, sled drags, prowler pushing, and grip training with bags full of chains, farmers walk implements holds… lotta fun.
No stones today :(… deadlifting on Monday and dont want to exhaust the posterior chain too much.

you’ve got the build of all of the successful strongmen I know from around here, i.e. tall, long arms, suck at bench (j/k, kinda). You have the implements to train, you should do a meet.

Ummm… thanks?

I think the long arms help. I kicked ass at the stones because my arms are long enough to go completely around.

Requirements for strongman:
tall - nope
long arms - nope
suck at bench - check
hmmm, 1 out of 3, I think I’ll stick to powerlifting.
Seriously, those strongman sessions sound like a lot of fun. Keep up the hard work.
