BUN Levels/Creatine

Hey everyone, looking for some tips on nutrition to lower my BUN levels. When I was natty my body had a bun lvl of 17-19 and my creatine was high at 1.35. I stopped taking creatine and cut red meat consumption down 90%. This was sept 2022. Got retested oct 2022 and everything was the same off creatine and having my red meat consumption down by about 90%. Decided to start a 16week cycle of 300mg a month later in Nov 22’ . Now i’m crusing at 150mg a week and got labs done and my creatine is still 1.35 and my BUN is now high at 23. Any tips on how I can lower this? (Everything else is normal and my test is 736)

When are your bloods taken? Taking blood too soon after hard workouts artificially raises BUN and creatinine.

@anna_5588 is correct. Lifters typically are high in both, especially males. If you’re dehydrated and eat a high protein diet it can be worse. The testosterone you are taking is low enough not likely to be a culprit.

Bloods were done in the early AM after I woke up. Diet is high protein. A lot of chicken, bars, and shakes. I cut most red meat out back in Sept/Oct 22’. I weigh 230-240lb so i’m typically consuming 1-2x my body weight in protein.

Did you work out hard at any point up to two days prior?

Did you drink water before taking the bloods?

Ppl tend to be dehydrated first thing in the morning → artificially elevated concentrations of substances since there’s less liquid
