Well, my husband’s family cancelled Christmas entirely today because of it. Lol
I will mostly be annoyed because I won’t be able to lift properly for a bit. I’m legit sick and COVID puts me down hard.

Seated BTNP press: 50% x 5

60% x 5

70% x 5

Close grip swiss bar: 5 x 10…. did these as a alternative to dips. Used only 50% of my BW

medium grip pull downs: 5 x 10

arm curls : 20/3 Tr 22 . Just some pump work

Thick rope curls: 26/2 TR 26

Easy session obviously. Plan on putting in a planned Deload after 2 waves. Give my old ass a chance to play catch up and recharge my batteries.

I had to buy a new pair of knee sleeves when I started back up so I went with with these from Slingshot.

After wearing them for months now . IM finding that im not 100% impressed.

Just went back and ordered from Elitefts and got the the type I had used for years.

Someone going on a spending spree? Lol

Sorta… its a better version of what I have with a more aggressive curve.

What’s the point of the curve? If you don’t mind educating me …

The design is known as a Buffalo bar…

Im too lazy to type so I will cut and paste.

A Buffalo Bar is a specialty barbell with a gentle curve or arch, designed to make heavy squats and bench presses more comfortable by shifting weight and reducing stress on the shoulders, wrists, and elbows, allowing for a deeper stretch and greater range of motion, ideal for lifters with shoulder mobility issues or those wanting to build strength in the bottom portion of a lift.

Key Features & Benefits:

  • Ergonomic Design: The slight bend positions the weight differently, taking pressure off the biceps, shoulders, and wrists, making it more comfortable for people with limited mobility.

  • Increased Range of Motion: For bench presses, the curve allows the bar to sink lower towards the chest, creating a deeper stretch and promoting greater muscle development.

  • Versatile: While excellent for squats and bench presses, it’s also used for good mornings, lunges, and shrugs.

  • “Duffalo” Variation: A more exaggerated version, the “Duffalo Bar” (Duffin + Buffalo), offers even more shoulder relief and range of motion.

I have a issue doing a conventional squat with a powerbar. Between my upper back thickness and mobility issue with my left shoulder from a labrum repair. I can do it… but only for a short period of time before it starts beat the dog shit out of me. Hence the Buffalo bar.

Huh. Interesting. Maybe I should give that a shot. Perhaps it would help my pathetic squat get better.
Thank you for the info!

Id only suggest it if you need it.

I can see it being easier on the shoulders during squats, but I am not grasping how it would help shoulders on bench.

Yeah… thats the odd comment. I cant grasp how it would either. I’ve used the bar for Benching in the past to improve strength off the chest. Can’t say its was exactly more shoulder friendly.

I suppose it probably wouldn’t make much difference. I can’t do low bar squats. My shoulders won’t allow it. So I exclusively do high bar. I suppose for my purposes ( to not be pathetically weak) either way is fine.

Honestly low bar and high bar position has been greatly exaggerated.

Probably a fair point. Either way mine is weak. Hopefully this 5/3/1 will help.
