To be honest… ive never subconsciously cared about being ripped . I always preferred to have a physique like the wrestler Animal from the Road Warriors .
I genuinely feel like we had an advantage growing up in an era where professional wrestlers set the standards for a male physique compared to the current era of movie stars and social media fitness influencers. Professional wrestlers were typically “beefy”, a combination of muscular and fluffy, with a few notable exceptions like The Ultimate Warrior or Ravishing Rick Rude, who made it a point to come in peeled along with huge. In turn, we thought nothing of it if, in the pursuit of getting jacked, we didn’t have a full set of abs or spiderveins on our shoulders. We just wanted to get HUGE, and the world was ok with that too.
Now, people legit believe that, if you don’t have a full six-pack, you’re fat. And, in turn, trainees are SO afraid to actually EAT so that they can grow from all this hard training.
Hell, even Arnold let his abs go in the off season…
Pretty much… just dont become complete fat ass and if you wanted to get ripped , you would simply diet down. Cant get anymore simple.
Well yeah… you got all these guys who are shredded all the time online . Which these newer/younger guys thinking it is the norm while they waste valuable time hovering at barely at a maintenance level or even accidentally slipping into a deficient caloric wise . Just because they are too Damn afraid they might gain a pound of fat .While wondering why they aren’t building and why their lifting sessions completely suck and they feel they are spinning their wheels.
Honestly i cant relate to the current culture.
Allot of these younger guys dont realize some of these influencers they follow. Arent carrying as much muscle on their frame as they think. Just the other day one of these influencers posted his stats. 7.5 % body fat at 5’8 @ 150lbs sooo..a lean Bw of 138lbs. Sure looks good and ripped and big in his video. BUT…lets be honest on the street in cloth? Well … you decide.
Well he was not shredded in Conan the Barbarian… even fat by current standards. The only time he got close to near his Mr.O leanessne in his acting career was probably Conan the Destroyer. IMO.
What app are you using, Bulldog?
