Yeah will need to break him of it.too powerful of a dog to allow that behaviour.
Iāve had a dog like that.
Tough habit to break . He was a retriever.
Neutered or in tact?
Either he stops or the wife will break it off.

Okay! So I chatted to my wife about this. Sheās been a vet assistant, managed the largest dog boarding facility in the city we used to live in, and has trained all types of animals in a professional capacity including penguins, turtles, sea lions, and yes, LOTS of dogs.
Resume out of the way, this is what she said:
Itās not a āhow to stop humpingā itās a āhow to manage his energy levelā through self control training and exercise so he knows how to cope with his excitement when it happens. Because he is intact he needs even more expulsion of his energy, physical and mental. Once he is a more calm dog overall then he will be able to control his impulses like humping.
With his energy level, yes, being fixed will help, but not the behaviours he has already taught himself. Regardless he still needs to be exercised and taught some impulse control.
Bulldogs are naturally stubborn so 5 years of no self control and learned behaviour is going to be so hard to adjust. The only thing that will work is 100% COMMITMENT.
Tell your wife thanks from me! Father in law came by and was able to prevent Bear from jumping up and humping. Been pretty constant on the " down " command along with taking him on two walks before hand .
For the recordā¦my new dog acts like a 60lbs toddler.
Thatās funny because my 6 yr old son acts like a dog !!!
I mean, weāve all been there.
He humps
He drools
He farts
He makes odd noises
And again my wife says he is my spirit animal
Donāt forget you still have 2 sons.
Trust me. This year Iām reminded every time we open the wallet to help with their living expenses .
Lol I think Bear might cure the wifeās empty nest syndrome
Um? Kinda young at 6 wanting to hump things? ![]()
Lol I was more thinking dig things up and piss on any tree he sees !!
Whoops. I stand corrected! ![]()
When do you start making your own personal bulldog memes?!
Evidently
Ugh my hips are all knotted up. Plus my lifting schedule is messed up from dealing with adding a new dog into the home.
