Bulldog : Coming Back ON HOLD

another excellent edition…

Though I will say, sometimes though most gifted athletes, lifters or whatever are the worst teachers…A lot of times the guys that toil in mediocrity (like myself) become such students of whatever athletic endeavor that they transcend seamlessly into good coaches. Like Pat Riley and Phil Jackson excellent coaches, mediocre scrubs as players… Isaiah Thomas HOF player horrid coach.

Maybe not the best correlation but I feel through my constant struggles, I have been able to see the same shortcomings in other lifters and offer my advice. Simply because I can commiserate in their frustration, and found something to overcome it.

just my .02
Very good point. I completely agree-gifted guys can be horrible coaches because they dont even know how they’re doing it.

Self made guys had to really work at it so they have a broader base to refer to for teaching

What age did BP start lifting? I’m sure you’ve said and I probably asked before. My 3 year old is very into lifting with me (read: playing in my gym) I’m thinking 11-12 would be about the right age to start him with some basic stuff.
I started my boy at 12 after this past fall’s football season. Keeping it basic-flat bench/ trap bar deadlifts/ lat pulldowns rotating in some dumbell squats and incline dumbell presses.

Keeping total sets for the workout around 8. He’s growing like a weed. Flat bench 75 x 8 mult seta. Deadlifts 90 x 6 multi seta.

He’s in puberty and I’m keeping a log-hes adding Wt or reps every wkout-every 4-6 days

MPress : Bar x 5 x 5
55 x 5
70 x 3
75 x 10…Hmmm he must have had a off day last week when he did them

Chins: 5/4/3/2/1-7

Dips: 5/4/3/2/1- 17…Made him go to failure on his last

arm curls : 3 x 10 x SW
290 x 2
310 x 1
330 x 1
350 x 1…Paused for a three count
290 x 13…ehh

Lifted at home tonight so I couldnt do Inclines. Possible purchase in my future I think.

standing BTN: 2 x 12 x SW

Dips : 10 / 12 x BW

Wasn’t a very inspirational session for me , Nothing seem to want to click tonight… I hit all the numbers I set out to hit. Mentally I just couldnt seem to get into it and physically I felt sluggish.
“ehh” on 290x13? lol

Nice work. If I did a 3 count with 350 on my chest, it would stay on my chest.
Behind the neck doesn’t bother your shoulder?

EHHH still stands, Like I said I just wasn’t into it for some reason yesterday.

BTN aren’t bothering my shoulders. Mind you I’m not going heavy at this point. Along with doing them standing . Right now I’m keeping it light to find my groove and just to improve the mobility in my shoulders. For the record I feel that the BTNpress has gotten a overblown bad rap over the past few years. I’m willing to bet more shoulders have been jacked up by benching then doing BTN’s.

I saw that and showed it to my son-very cool.

I won’t disagree at all. I used to do BTN, but it now aggravates my wonky shoulder.
Speaking of bench, I narrowed grip about 1/2 - 3/4" on each side and my shoulders are liking it much better. Such a little change, such a bit difference.

^^^ Video High lights

T Bar row: 4 plates X 10
5 x 10
6 x 7
5 x 12
4 x 19

Pull downs : 4 x 10 x SW

Shrugs: 405 x 10…Hot as hell in the garage was a little petered out

Curls…LOL

^^ Video?..Nevermind

More fun with the camera yesterday ,letting my closet Bodybuilder out…LOL

Nice work with the T-rows, a little sore after that? Great videos, I was howling during the bro-tard curls-if I had a buck for everytime I’ve seen that same thing in the gym I could retire.

“Inner BB came out there . . . the shame” Actually, your lats aren’t half bad . . . nice and thick. I’m jelly.

Shall I remind everyone how you once broke down, flexed arm, and measured it? (It’s 18 inches, folks.)

Oh yeah I’m feeling the T’s today. Ill be honest I was doing all I could to keep from laughing out loud when I was videoing the curls.

actually their about 18 & 3/4 to be honest

looking good my man… would love to see you leaned all out…

Could you clarify for the rest of us…

Warm up: yep

Squat: bar x 10 x 10
135 x 5 x 5
205 x 3
255 x 5
295 x 4
345 x 3
380 x 2
405 x 1
430 x 1
455 x 1…(Added Belt) Not bad all things considered

Dead Lift 4" : 135 x 5 x 5…All sets no Belt
225 x 3
260 x 5
310 x 4
360 x 3
415 x 2
440 x 1
465 x 1
490 x 1…Surprisingly pretty damn easy.

Floor: 440 x 8 …Wimped out could have gotten more if I dug deep.

Speed pulls: two singles x 360…The 440 x 8 wiped me out. I had zero power off the floor plus the Heat in the garage was getting to me. So I shut it down

Standing band ab crunches: 5 x 15

I was paying the price for all the T bar rows I did the other day. I went into this session with my lower back fatigued. I was surprised I was even able to pull considering how my back was feeling just yesterday.

Love the new avatar. With that back, hardly surprising you’re lifting almost 500, even after the T bars.

Be careful the Pup doesn’t catch you flexing, or he’ll want to try it too. And then it’s “How much do posing trunks cost?”

Awesome work, Bulldog. That is so much work for one day. 440x8 wiped you out? Damn. Everything before that would have wiped out most other folks.

Great, great stuff!
