Bullpup’s quick victory reminds me when I was taking karate in my early 20’s. Worked hard in class, practiced in spare time, really wanted to do well. We all went to a contest. I lost the first round immediately and spent the rest of the day sitting on my butt watching everyone else compete.

Well in this case these lamb to slaughter victories ( which im getting tired of)are doing Jack and Shit to improve him.Now that his wrist is healed and with the lack of quality schools left on the schedule . He might get one or two matches the rest of the season that will benefit him.
For better or worse there is no one for him to practice with on his squad to improve him. There’s only one other kid on the squad that can match him on the technical part But BP has 25 lbs on him. And the only ones that can actual match him in strength are the heavy weight boys but he is better technically then they are. The Varsity coach has already told my wife that he has a starting position ready for him next year. Which is great. But these damn fast matches aren’t going to get him ready for High school wrestling ![]()
Saw this and thought of you.

You nailed it when you said that the reason he’s got so many followers is because he’s got visible abs. But that’s the thing that most guys who go to the gym are after. They don’t really care about being strong because that alone won’t get them to where they want to go.
Good news on the bodyweight drop…assuming that’s where you want to go that is. If not then eat more…lol.
Solid work as always, you’re definitely one strong mofo.

Thank for the article James. That pretty much sums it up nicely.
Some one needs to explain to the younger guys that yes girls like ABZ .But Women LOVE FAT Wallets more
Not to mention a HUGE …
Really the whole goal for dropping the extra weight I purposely put on is 1. I was starting to feel like a beached whale 2. It overkill for me to be this heavy any extra leverage I might have gained was minimal. At any rate I should be back down in the 242 class sooner the later.
Thanks James for the compliment.
So your younger kid is wrestling, too? Neat. How long has he been doing that? I thought he had some other interest or am I thinking of someone else?
And kudos for trimming down. You say it’s boring . . . maybe that’s why the gyms put TVs in front of the treadmills . . . have anything similar?
2/8/11
Accumulation phase 3’s waves
Warm up: same old shit
290 x 3,3,3,3,3,3,10......shut it down form was getting a little loose
Incline Bench: 225 x 10 , 225 x 6…I haven’t done these in a LONG time. I just had a wild hair in my rear end.
Push downs: 3 X 10 X stack…I cant say for certain the actual weight
hammer curls: 3 x 8 x SW
It was a ho hum session. I just got the work in on the Bench pretty much everything else was me playing around. I just wasn’t feeling a 100% tonight . Right Bicep and shoulder where still feeling a little beat up from squatting Monday. So I figured Id have a little fun.
Well pretty soon Ill be done running JTS. After which Ill back off for awhile before I jump into a peaking cycle for my Meet in June.

Actually the youngest has played Youth Football for years. And yes he does have other interest. He is my little Comic Book and fantasy Geek. Which strangely enough I was at that age. This is his first year wrestling. We’ve held off because he suffers from eczema. Which puts him at risk of picking up different types of skin infections. This year he has been able to keep it some what under control.
Actually I bought a Treadmill for the house. I have no urge of walking on one at the local YMCA along with the rest of the sheep’s.
Actually, I meant putting a TV in front of your treadmill.
cant wait for the peaking cycle!

Oh sorry. Yeah I have the Treadmill in my Bedroom positioned to see the TV. Still doesn’t help.

Well sadly for my wife, I don’t have any of the three things above.

I’m going to be serious for a change. Ever since Ive joined the over 35 Ive always shy ed away giving my opinion or advice regarding training. I just feel uncomfortable doing so. Ive always been content just having my tongue and check rants on here. Sorta playing the part of a bad clown. I’m debating weather or not to actually express my actual opinion on this blog and actually dispense possible useful information.

Ive recently became aware of a gentleman named Paul Carter. Which I have mentioned not to long ago. I was floored by the way he approaches his training and his over all philosophy regarding it. The ideas and opinion mirrors my own or I should say did. It makes me realize that Ive allowed my own lack of confidence in my own knowledge base to hamper my own progression. Ever since I actually got started back into lifting when my shoulder allowed it and I regained my love for it. I realize that Ive allowed myself to become overly saturated on information . Ive foolishly adopted concepts and philosophies from other so called experts. Ive abandoned things which worked for me when I was at my strongest. I’m feed up with myself its time I start drawing on my own experience and actually think for myself. It time for me to reinstate my own philosophy and say to hell with with allot of the shit Ive overloaded myself with since Ive been back at it.
Lift - Run - Bang is a great blog. I bought his training manual too but can’t find it for the life of me.
You should most definitely express your actual opinion and give feedback in other logs too. Hell, that’s the main reason most of us post here right? To get constructive feedback.
