Bulldog and Bullpup Log Part 2

Well ,all in all i’m feeling like a train wreck today. Pretty much every possible joint hurts and i’m feeling as weak as a kitten. If I had my choice right now id load up on some cold medicine and crawl into bed and stay there. But on a good note i’m not suffering alone. The wife has gotten it and the youngest is showing signs of it. Nothing like sharing.

I think i’m almost over my bug. Hopefully Ill be back at it tomorrow. Still feel like ive been beat with a bat .

Well its a big night for the Bullpup. First official game of the Jr.High season. Hope the scrawny bastards ready( I mean that in the most loving way). He better be because hes starting as right half back and outside Linebacker. Hopefully he isn’t going to be one of those types that look like Tarzan and plays like Jane.

UGH!!! I don’t know what it was tonight. Nothing felt heavy . But I just couldnt seem to generate any real power. The bar seemed to be coming off my chest in slow motion. On top of that I just couldnt seem to stay tight.
Next time just “KEEP THE RHYTHM!!” and maybe you’ll generate some real power.

Dude, that video was classic.

^^ i’m afraid my wife is going to start getting on me about my rhythm.

Got to say i’m not sure about it. The whole rib injury sorta derailed me. Going into it my current mentality is fuck it. Im going into it with no huge goals.
I think the goal is to just get back in and execute a fluid meet without major fuckups. Consider this an opportunity to… sigh… find your rhythm again. Then you can set the stage for optimizing at the next one.

And anothe rlaudable goal is to be part of popping dammut’s cherry.

You pretty much struck the nail on the head. I have stated in the past on this thread that I view Meets more as a training tool more then anything else. More or less a finally exam for myself. I’m starting to realize I need to start doing Meets more often. I’m finding that I need the pressure which comes from having a set deadline to give me that little extra fire in training. Not saying I don’t have it but I now realize over the course of time that little extra rises and falls and isn’t constant. So I catch myself just going threw the motions from time to time. Honestly after thinking about it id like to try and get a meet in at least every 4 months. Nothing lights a fire under ones ass like knowing your putting ones ego out on the platform. But yeah i’m going to use this Meet as a restarting point and go from there.

Actually i’m finding myself getting more geared up over popping Damutts cherry then actually doing this Meet.

^^^ 5 yard run by Bullpup ( # 30) up the gut.

Well I sorta fell like a schmuck. I didnt know my son is a team captain.

Anyway he had a alright game. He only carried the ball three times first one he got stuffed going around the end . The other two he managed 5 yards a pop.

8/24/11

warm up: light db movements

Mpress: bar x 20
100x 5
125 x 5
150 x 3
160 x 5
185 x 5
210 x 5…did 6 some more left in tank

CG bench: 1 x 295 + 80 lbs of chains…Whooops I was only suppose to use 40 lbs I had a brain fart.
2 x 1 x 255 + 80 lbs of chains…I just dropped 40 lbs of plate weight to make up differences since I didnt want to mess with the chains.

Bent rows: 3 x 5 x 240

Shrugs: 3 x 15 x 305

Arm curls (Axel): 3 x 6 x some weight

Well considering I still didnt feel 100% it was a alright session.

^^^
In retrospect im kind of happy about yesterday. Because ,now im starting to believe the upcoming Meet wont be all bad. Well at least regarding any bench attempts. The screw up with my first set of close grip bench conformed it for me . What makes me feel this way is the fact that I was able to do a close grip bench with the 295 along with the additional 80 lbs of chains and it not wipe me out. Which in all rights I should have been since I wasn’t feeling 100% to begin with. Looking back over my log from this period last year I’m definitely stronger not so much in poundage which I am a little , more so im moving close to the same amounts with far less the effort. I’m still not going to state at this point what numbers im going for . Right now I don’t want to but that kind of pressure on myself right now.

im loving the meet prep… I plan on doing at least 2 or 3 a year so that I can stay on course.

Good work in here BD.

That was my original plan when I got serious again about lifting. Of course things have gotten in the way. Namely life and other responsibilities. Not to mention a lack of Meets near by of organization’s I prefer to compete in. Hopefully after this meet and can get back to the original plan.

I think I saw that in Braveheart. They decided to go with “drawn and quartered”.

What can I say. I’m into self abuse. Always knew I had a sadistic side to myself.

8/27/11

warm up : light Db movements

bench: bar x 20
95 x 10
150 x 5
190 x 5
225 x 3
245 x 5
285 x 5
320 x 5…Got a wild hair and got 8 I think there was a rep or two left in me, but they would have been grinders.

Illegal width bench: 2 x 6 x 270

Dead bench (Axel bar): 3 x 1 x 320…ugh these really suck ,might be time to go back to a regular bar

Bar front raises: 3 x 4 x 65

Hammer curls: 3 x 10 x who cares.

Well what a differants a week makes. I went from feeling like crap to blasting up 320 x 8 with plenty of “pop”. HMMMMMM…I think things might be getting interesting.

On a another note…IM GETTING TIRED OF BEING SO FUCKING WEAK!!!

Ok …Ok… I know… I’ve stated before I strive for a level of strength that above the norm. At least for most sane people. To the point its not realistic.

Below is what I consider strong
