I feel like T-Nation has become home to two groups. One, the group of individuals who like to do things the lean way, which is respectable. Two, the group of individuals who like to do things the not-so-lean way, which is also respectable. However, the problem arises when a good deal of the “lean guys” make fun of most of the “not-so-lean guys”, saying that they are “too fat to see their muscles”, “too out of shape to do lunges”, etc. etc. and then the “not-so-lean guys” strike back by saying that most of “lean guys” are much smaller than them, weaker than them, and possess less muscle than them.
Really, all this does is make everyone look like a bunch of little boys on the playground arguing about who has the biggest stick. When posters like pushharder and X are spending more of their time telling all of the “little guys” how little they are than actually trying to help, I fear for the future of this site. Just as much as when people like Utah, Brick and others spend more of their time clowning on X than helping greenhorns like myself get big, strong, and lean.
I’m not saying my hands are completely clean, as I like to give 'ole X and others some trouble, but I can say I’ve never in all of my whopping 60 or something posts made a personal attack on someone here.
You called me a cunt once

It doesn’t matter who you were addressing. You were wrong about what you wrote about push.

I’ll address that with him, you don’t speak for him…thank god.

You’ll have to point out where I’ve done this.
Copy and paste or GTFO.
I know your sarcasm Push…this is what you are doing here.

You think a guy is too little to listen to…tell him to eat more(sarcastically)
Both.
But both were intended to “help.” It wasn’t even sarcasm. It was just point blank, “Guys, some of you need to pick up the fork more often. You’ve very little business on a ‘How to Bulk’ thread if you’ve never bulked. Just like I would have no business on a “How to Squat” thread if I’ve never squatted.”
It’s simple.
And I SURELY don’t “spend more of (my) time telling all of the “little guys” how little they are.” Not even close. I rarely get involved in this particular topic.
Well said.
That would be the difference between what actually happens…and what they say happens.

Fair enough…thanks for the clarification Push.

More clarification: it sure doesn’t seem offensive when many on this thread tell the “pemabulker” that he might want to consider putting down the fork a little more often (and rightfully so).
Therefore I don’t see it as being offensive when I tell the “permacutter” that he might want to consider picking up the fork a little more often.
Nobody’s feelings need be hurt by me stating a simple proverb that works both ways.
I don’t think anybody would disagree with that.

repost.
@steven-Woah, when did I say that? If so, I had to have been joking. Regardless, that is out of line, and if I did say that to you I sincerely apologize.
@push-I understand that you are just trying to help the smaller guys learn how to not be so small. However, what I don’t think you and X understand is that nobody seems to really be asking for that help. I have just noticed how often you older/bigger guys seem to pop in and offer your advice and criticism when nobody really asked for it.
If somebody was coming to you and asking for help, I completely agree with your stance on not being afraid to eat a bit. I myself have gained about 60 pounds or more in the past year and a half. So, I also am not afraid to eat. However, it just irks me when posters like you and X jump in and criticize all the “smaller guys” when they weren’t even asking for your help in the first place. Like the old saying goes, “You can lead a horse to water…”
@X-I’ve already said what I felt needed to be said to you. I am not a liar. I’m an observer and just point out patters of behavior.
I feel like you are more guilty of twisting words than I am. You have been complaining about the “smaller guys” and how they shouldn’t be allowed to offer advice. Too bad. Nobody seems to want your advice as of late either. Stop acting like people are waiting in line to hear your word. Your air of condescension is suffocating these forums. This site will hopefully never become the “exclusive big guy club” you want it to be. If you don’t like that, go to another site, or start posting in O35.
As a final note: It just sucks to see posters that I like and respect (push) acting similar to someone as ignorant as X. I am not trying to insult push. I have much respect for his ways, not to mention his drinking habits (chasing rye with amber). However, I feel like the “big guys” of the site could stand to be more humble lately.

Really, all that post accomplished was to solidify how much of a child you are with your, “But, he did it too!” nonsense. You are, what, 37 now? Stop acting like a little boy. You are a grown-ass man.

To be fair J. the title of this thread was “Bulking How Its Done” so that does imply a certain level of desire from the people in it to give their opinions on bulking and the OP asked everyone what their individual style was. Granted it ended up massively sidetracked from that but Push’s comments did relate to the thread.
^Oh, I agree. I am all for offering one’s opinion on how to bulk. However, the very first response to this thread was X saying, “How can you act like there is even a blueprint for this???”, which pretty much just shows his reluctance to discuss the topic. As for push, I am happy with his overall opinion, as I pretty much employ his methods myself. I just don’t agree with his or X’s delivery, which some seem to think isn’t important anymore. I keep seeing, “Oh, I know he’s argumentative, but if you look past that he offers good advice”. Who cares? Since when did being big mean you don’t have to follow common courtesy and be respectful to others’ opinions?
Oh, and, inb4 X with, “I’m never mean, I just tell the truth. Show me one time that I haven’t been respectful of another person’s opinion”, and the subsequent SS long post of all the times he hasn’t.

No, what that post accomplished is it being kown that apparently other people on T-Nation like Jesse Irizarry are noticing the same as push.

That’s why I wrote this in the next response…which would imply that not only did I want more discussion, but I also provided why I believe what I do.
That’s all good but what you have to understand is that this isn’t about following exactly what someone else did. Bulking up really means following what your body is doing. If you gain too much fat, you cut back a little on the carbs.
You base your decisions on your conditioning and the basic concept of prioritization and periodization. the guy trying to be super athlete and the biggest most muscular guy all at the same time will likely not reach his overall goal.
Question…if the guy “bulking” knows he will be deployed in 3 months and will not be able to eat diet food…should he keep gaining now?
It is concepts like this that need to be understood when discussing these topics.
Yeah, because this guy is at the top of physical development.

Where do you stand?
Because I see a big dude with some size on him who isn’t that lean.
