Ok, I’m trying to bulk right now, but it is at least 100 degrees out here and my house does not have air conditioning. Hot food is just not going down very easily. I need some good suggestions for high calorie stuff that can be eaten cold. Thanks!

I’m sure you know this already, but an icy protein shake is great. I think the “Shake it Up” article has some high calorie protein shake recipes that use cold oatmeal and other ingredients. I tried it and it’s really good!
The other day I “sinned” and made a Grow! shake with cookies and cream ice cream. Not exactly “lean eatin’” but damn that was good! I wish I had the metabolism to eat like that all the time!

To answer your question JN, try pasta salades with tuna. Get creative with the dressings and you wont get bored of them for a good while.
Actually, BOP, I do believe this is the first time I’ve read a “cold bulking foods” post. Come on now, are we really going to turn a nice thread about food into a flame war? Jason is not some newbie asking a question without first reading the board. He’s an experienced, knowledgeable regular.
I love cold oatmeal with chocolate protein powder mixed in. Also, a good P&F meal cold is a mixture of chicken, flaxseed oil, tabasco sauce, and spinach. Just stick it in a thing of tupperware/old cottage cheese container, shake it up, and let it sit for a while. Soggy…yum:)

BOP or anybody else - What do you put on the pasta to keep it from sticking when it is cold. I know that oil works, but I'd prefer to stick with P&C combos. I plan to cook up some pasta (which just makes the house hotter - ok, I'll quit complaining).
TEK - Grow and ice cream - That has gotta be a wonderful combination :-) I'll give the oatmeal shake a shot. I've used oatmeal occasionaly in shakes, but I have not tried the one you mentioned.
Patricia - Grande Mocha Coconut Frappucino. Now that is a GOOD drink. I've had a few too many recently, but if you can't cheat a little when you're bulking on MAG-10, when can you?
Eric - I know you are serious about bodybuilding, but come on man? Do you really eat that? Grow is the only substance on earth that has made flaxseed oil bearable. Does the tabasco mask the flavor?
Eat spicy food. It will make you perspire which in turn will cool you. That is one of the reasons spicy foods are poular in places like Southeat Asia, Mexico, and Africa. I will give you some ideas later when I have time.

Just eat everything cold that you normally eat hot. That’ll solve the problem in a pinch.
ground buffalo burger (mix it with some ranch dressing seasoning in it), toss it in the fridge (wrap it in alum. foil), then add a piece of cheese (provolone etc) for some fats, it tastes great cold. also, try smoked turkey (cut it into small slices), wrapped with provolone, and mustard. thats pretty good too
To keep pasta from sticking, there is not much you can do except use oil, or leave it in cold water. If you leave it in the water however, it will soak up water, and get mushy. If you do this, do not over cook it. I need to try something before I can reccomend it, I will post tomorrow.
Heres Thai salad that pretty popular, its called Laab:
1lb ground meat (chicken, beef, turkey,pork you choose)
1.5 c water .5 c lemon juice (this is just a guideline, you could use less)
1c loosely packed mint leaves
1c loosey packed cilantro
2 stalks lemon grass, tough outer leaves removed, lower stalks trimmed to three inches and finely sliced(optional but reccomended)
1 TB golden brown sugar (optional, I guess you could use your favorite sweetener)
2 TB fish sauce (soy sauce can be used it you do not have fish sauce)
3 green onion finely sliced
1/2 TB Thai chili powder (cayenne is fine) <1 head of your favorite leaf lettuce
In a medium saucepan set over high heat, bring water to a boil. Add the meat, stirring often to break it up. When cooked completely, strain, and cool. Add the remaining ingredients, and toss gently.
Hit the post button on accident. To eat, place a spoonful of the salad on a leaf of lettuce, fold up and eat. Its a great dish to pack to work.

I stumbled on a good bulk up food/meal when there was no whole food in the cupboards. Just get a carton of ice cold skim milk and a jar of peanut butter spoon some down yer neck and wash it down with the milk so you don’t really taste the peanut butter and repeat until you’ve done half a jar of 340grams which equals about 55 grams of protiens and a lot of calories. Not a great idea for mesomorphs though!
I always eat my oatmeal cold.
Put the amount of oats you want in a bowl and pour the appropriate amount of boiling water on it. When it cools down and the water is absorbed, put the bowl in the fridge and leave it for 2+ hrs. You can add anything you want in it of course.
