I already used the “search function”, thanks. Didn’t find an answer.
I’m considering doing cardio even though I’m bulking.
So I’m thinking: a cardio session of slow steady-pace (think max incline brisk walk) 2-3 times a week for about 30 minutes.
I’m asking specifically about the type of cardio that I described, as I was informed that this type of cardio burns mostly fat for energy.
What do you think about this? Am I missing something here?
Thanks
Your avatar should provide plenty of cardio.
Just do it. It’s good for you, and it’s probably not going to affect your training negatively.
I think 30 minutes 3x a week is too much for a bulk. I’d consider 15-20 mins 2-3x a week, but yah if you want to keep your BF in check w/o being very detailed with your diet go ahead and do it.
I did 3 minutes of cardio today, it was a terrible experience.

Lets be honest, I’m not gonna do more than 30 mins twice a week. Is that too much considering the type of cardio it is?
As to your last sentence- you por you pats head
PS: you never answered me if that’s you in your avatar

sadly, I wouldn’t last that long with a girl like that
I guess it depends on how easily you gain weight. If you have real problems gaining weight, then don’t do it. If you’re like me, however, and can gain weight by going off your ‘diet’ even for a couple days, then this type of cardio may help.
I do this type of cardio 4x a week. I have been gaining 1-1.5lb a week since, I dunno, August.
I actually like waking up early, popping some caffeine and taking my ipod to the gym.

If that is a serious question, I think the waylanderxx’s avatar is IFBB pro Toney Freeman (although waylanderxx might be almost as big?)
I think it is a good idea to do some cardio during a bulk. I did none and only weight trained and I ended up looking terrible and gaining a lot of fat. I am an endomorph but you seem to be more on the ecto side, so it might work out better for you. Eating fast food daily contributed to my looking bad, but by the posts I read on this site, not by very much.
I’m thinking about adding some cardio in also. If anything it will help me eat more. Cardio=burning up some fat + bigger increase in hunger = eating more food through out the day to build muscle=human blast furnace:D

I’m thinking the same way plus: slow pace cardio= burning more fat=less fat on body=better hormonal responses=putting on muscle mass easier=bigger, stronger, faster.
I’m just wondering if any part in my way of thinking is fallacious and thus I’m sabotaging my efforts
skip the cardio brah.
for real. eating clean foods is a lot easier than slugging along on a treadmill (even if it is for only 30min)
granted, if you feel you’re bodyfat is slipping away from you, you may feel the urge to incorperate some. but as a general thing i don’t think it’s necessary.
granted, i don’t have mightystu’s sexy abs, but i’ve also added almost 80lbs to my frame.
i’ll do cardio when i’m ready to get sexi-fied
I think doing some cardio during a bulk twice per week, at a low intensity (as you said, incline walk for 30 or so mins) will not negatively affect any muscle gain, and will keep body fat levels generally in check so it’s easier to cut when you need to. It’s just boring as hell. You could even do a short conditioning session 1-2x per week after a training session. Good luck.
You could do a periodic 1 week cut where you eat at maintenance but cut the carbs…maybe during an unloading/active recovery week. Might keep you trim if you despise cardio.
I dunno, that sounds boring as hell.
I’m also bulking and recently decided to add in some cardio: car push repeats.
Now that’s fun. Especially the look on the neighbors faces going from “oh, poor guy must not be able to get his car to start” to “what the fuck…?”

Nope that’s plenty if it’s steady state.
haha I get asked that all the time, nah it isn’t. Here’s a fairly recent pic of me if you want to see.

about half way down.
Eh guys, the fact that it’ll be boring doesn’t really bother me. Nothing a good tech-trance playlist can’t fix.
And I’ll most likely do the cardio after my regular workout…wait no, scratch that. I usually try not to throw up when im done with my workout and go home to down me a shake.
waylander: you’re 100 lbs heavier than me cries
Eat clean and lift on a bulk. I do 0 cardio and stay pretty lean that way. I only do cardio when I’m ready to cut the gut.

Didn’t The Mighty Stu (like yourself) also gain quality mass of about 70lbs? I think I read he started at 150lbs and was about 220lbs at his peak weight (with a four-pack)? Anyways, both of you gained a heck of a lot of quality mass.
