Bird, your in perth? North or south?
Hey guys, about a year ago i was doing overhead db press and heard a crunching sound, tingling sensation and then couldnt move my neck. Went to the doc and he said rest and it disappeared.
Over the last year it has occured a couple of more times, less severe.
Sunday i was doing oh press and racked it (rack to the front) and felt pressure on my neck, was fine, 4 hrs later couldnt move my neck.
Just got back from the physio then and he said i might have bulged (sp?) a disc, he gave me a massage and told me to rest. Is there anything i can do to help it, i felt some localised pain in my neck, above my left scapula, between my left scap and spine and some in the left arm. Ideas/advice?
I dont trust chiros, should i?[/quote]
Depends on the chiro. A great chiro is one of the most beneficial things you can do for your body. Anyways, about your injury, for now, just ice the area(s). Take some Ibuprofen, but don’t rely on it as it can mess your intestines up. Find a competent PT or chiro and see what they can do for you (look for ART or Graston qualified, they should be qualified in some type of soft tissue/muscle technique). If your PT suggested you might have a bulged disc, then you should probably get an MRI.
As for your doctor that you went to the first time, was it just a regular physician? Because if you went to a chiro or something, he might have found some type of muscle issue and worked to correct it, instead of just saying ‘rest’. And now your in a lot of pain… sorry about that.

Yeah might ask for an MRI, any idea if you have a bulge, how long it would take to heal and not show up on an MRI?

It would show up on an MRI. I can’t really say about recovery time, it varies from person to person. Just play it by ear… see your PT, get treatment, ice the area, and rest.
Hi friends.
Just an update on my injury: it has been 10 days which I have been resting due to
my lower back pain. The back does still feel a bit tender, akthough tonight I
will commence training, with a light soccer training session.
In the attempt to avoid such injury again, I have vowed to stretch my hamstrings
using a band/PNF technique for 8 minutes twice a day, and also to visit the chiro once
every 3 weeks for an adjustment. I will also continue my normal mobility routine before training.
I am continuing using Flameout, and now have ordered and waiting for some glucosamine etc joint
supplements.
On a side note my training log “the bird cage”, will be back and up and running in the next few days.
I would like to say thank you for all of your help you have all provided to me over
the past 10 days.
Now… lets go lift some heavy ass weight!!!
