Bug: THAT Guy

So we can settle this once and for all, do chicks dig moar muscle or hot abs? How must we define whether they are “girls” or “women”?
Plz reply

Not sure if u guys are being srs.

Good chest/shoulders/arms day this PM. Had to wait a bit for a bench to get started but everything fell into place after.

Thorough warmup (shoulders were feeling nice and flexible, moved hands in a bit closer on the shoulder dislocates).

Also, a quick note: for this next “phase” of training that will last the next month or 2, I’ll be bringing the reps down a bit and trying preserve some of this newly acquired muscle. I also can’t really get a pump at the moment, so doing crazy high rep sets isn’t very useful at the moment.

Flat bench press: wanted to work up to some respectable weight. Went well.
bar x 15
135 x 12
185 x 10
225 x 8
275 x 6
315 x 7 – left one in the tank. Not bad for not having flat benched in a few weeks and being about 10lbs lighter than when I hit 315x11.

Cable flies: Wanted to do incline smith but had to wait for the ambiguously gay duo.
something x 12 w/ slow negative. x3

Low-incline smith: Slow negative, squeeze at top. Got hard quick (lol).
135 x 12
225 x 8, 8, 8

Pec deck rear delts: liking these for “higher” reps, despite what I said above lol, I think rear delts respond best 15+ reps.
80 x 20
100 x 20
140 x 15

Leaning DB laterals: all the way up to ear level, hold contraction
15 x 10 LR x 3

Meadows partial laterals: felt awesome.
60s x 20
70s x 20, 20

Arm circuit: Was less than awesome but no worries. Like I said, have trouble getting a pump. Will prob tone down the circuits and supersets for awhile.
Cambered reverse-grip pressdowns
Alternating DB hammer curls
Close-grip pressdowns
Low-cable EZ curls
–4x through, played with weights to get in the 8-10 range for bis and 12-15 range for tris.

Lat pulldown overhead curls finisher: 15, 12, 10 reps

Bug Cable Kickbacks: Yes all caps. I’m patenting this exercise unless someone else steals credit. Basically set a pulley to around waist level, use a short handle, make sure you can get a good stretch, stay bent over, and make sure you keep your hand pronated the entire movement. Should be able to get a really good stretch and a great contraction. 3 sets: 12, 10, 10

Cooldown, 15 min stairmaster.

Quick waterlogged pic. 217 in the PM. luv

lats are looking wider. Really noticeable from the front. Nice job.

Damnit why the hell did i put up a pic right before you. Depressed now thanx.

Both sessions seem good. Smart move for droppping reps and chasing some “strength” rep ranges. Especailly if not getting a good pump

Ryan, if I was as lean as your are in your pics, my mushroom tip would look comically hyooge.

Man, it’s crazy that you’re ‘weak point’ at one time was arms. I think that’s the sign of great person, let alone BB’er, when you can make a weakness into a strength. Abs are thick as well.

Honestly I wish you’d just compete. lol

Lookin verry sessi my friend.

I was doing these before they were cool

looking very big sir. Teach me how to Buggie?

Dixie: Spank you senor.

Ryan: As I mentioned in your thread, please stfu (respectfully, of course).

spar:

Spidey: While I appreciate the compliment, believe me when I say my arms are still a weak point. I don’t post pictures when I look bad, lol, so obviously I’m showing myself in a favorable light. They are much better than they used to be, but they still are greatly lacking. Maybe another 5 years and I’ll feel they’re respectable? Haha.

Greg: muchas gracias amigo. I look at your picture on my fridge daily as inspiration!

fr0: o rly? I’ve done cable kickbacks, and one-armed pressdowns, both regular grip and reverse grip, but with the emphasis on keeping the hand pronated, this was nice. But maybe I’ll have to call them Fr0 Cable Kickbacks.

Off day today. It’s difficult to force myself to take off days but I think the lowered volume and frequency is really benefiting me right now, both physically and mentally. Forcing myself to be away from the gym makes me want to get in there and kill it that much more, instead of feeling like I have to be on top of my game for 4-5 days in a row.

Ok back to getting paid to analyze stuff.

Fo realz dough, your arms are looking pretty damned big from the side in the vaca pic you posted and IDK if the above pic does justice to your triceps thickness. Give yourself some credit. I still fucking hate you for your definition of ‘water-logged’

I enjoyed this too.

Looking great bug, whilst you may never be satisfied with arms they have definitely come on leaps and bounds. I know it might be awhile yet before you are the image of yourself you envision in your head, but I think the recent vacation photos show just how much general size you do actually have. Last T-Nation meet-up photo showed this too, and next to much bigger guys.

Goddamnit Bug.

bigmac: Lol. Lose some more bodyfat and you will put me to shame.

spar:

jake: thanks. I am a master of posing, but yeah I’ve put on a bit of size in the recent months. Those mofos are monsters tho.

Jab: Hahhaha.

Good leg day. Keeping some in the tank so I can recover. Was afraid I wasn’t gonna be able to bring it because from 4-5 at work I was literally falling asleep. Lol. That’s what happens when they don’t give me enough work! Chrissakes.

Warmup. Did 2 sets leg extensions too while waiting for seated leg curl.

Seated leg curl: part of the “pad” where your knees fold over was gone, so the motion felt weird. W/e. Just kinda TUT focused reps.
50 x 20
70 x 15
90 x 12
110 x 10, 10

Back squats: nice and slow down, get nice and deep (aka parallel for my inflexible ass), up.
135 x 8
225 x 5
315 x 5
365 x 3
405 x 3, 3, 5 – not terribly difficult, just making sure to load up a decent amount of weight that I can dominate. On that last set I coulda gotten 7-8 for shiz. All this is beltless btw.

DB SLDLs: 30sec rest between sets, only come up to just past knees, slow negative till DBs are out in front of my feet.
70s x 10, 10, 10, 10

Leg press: feet wide and somewhat pointed out, 3sec negative, no lockout
2pps x 12
4pps x 10
6pps x 10
8pps x 10
10pps x 8

Good girl / bad girl machines: 3 x 15, 12, 10 on each.

Seated calf raises w/ 2sec HARD contraction
1 plate x 20
2 plates x 12, 10
1 plate x 15

Cooldown. Then 22 min incline walking. Hoody hoop. Bodyweight 216 today. That seems to be my “baseline” now.

All things considered, good arm day today. I barely slept at all last night because it was so hot in my apartment. Lied in a pool of my own sweat. Got a cold pack out of the freezer to try to bring down my body temp. No fun. F U Boston summer plus no central air.

It’s weird for me to go back to keeping things simple, dropping intensity techniques, and leaving some in the tank, but that’s what I need to be doing right now. Dat der pee cee tee.

Warmup

Rope pressdowns: squeeze
60 x 20
80 x 15
100 x 12
120 x 10

Decline DB skulls: nice and controlled negative, no lockout, elbows tilted back
25s x 12
30s x 10
35s x 10, 8

Bugfr0 cable kickbacks: love these, and love watching my tricep flex hard in da mirra’
35 x 12 LR
45 x 10 LR
50 x 9 LR
40 x 10 LR followed by tri stretch.

Meadows hammer curls
30s x 12 LR
40s x 10 LR
55s x 6 LR
60s x 6 LR

One-armed DB preachers: sexy time
25 x 12 LR
30 x 10 LR
35 x 10 LR
25 x 10 LR

Olympic barbell curls: kinda meh today.
65 x 10
95 x 8
115 x 8, 8 Bi stretch.

Some ab work, cooldown stuff, skipped cardio and came home. Straight forward. Off tomorrow.

LOL at a northern summer

Fuck no A/C in this heat. It’s gross enough even with the A/C on a reasonable temp lol.

DB Preachers officially stolen for tomorrow’s workout.
