Full day of apt hunting. Exhausting. BUT, found a place well within my price range, which is exciting.

Then tonight, hit up a session at TPS. Det/Carlis murdered me. It was a good time. In a couple weeks, I’ll pretty much be a full blown powerlifter - get ready!

Thorough warmup

Started teaching me how to do box squats and engage glutes and hams.

Rack pulls from below knees
did a lot of triples and singles. Amazing how form tweaks completely change the feel of the movement. To give you an idea, I missed 495 like 4 times, then missed 475. Nuts. Hammies raped. My grip sucks.

Box squats to a low box, around parallel or so
Warmups, did these in the mono btw. First time.
245 x 20, 20, 20 - brutal.

Glute-ham raises
3 x some + forced reps

Ab wheel
3 sets

Box squats are win. As for grip, throw some towels over the bar when/if you do pulldowns sometime. If that doesn’t rape your grip into shape, not sure what will.

Ha, he’s joining my powerlifting team/training group. He’ll be training under my watchful eye, and my guys will be helping him out as well. I’m excited to see his growth.

Blaze - don’t worry man. If anything, it could help out my bodybuilding stuff. Might actually put some size on my baby legs finally, and thickening the whole posterior chain will be good. Arms are still on my mind brudda. And like I’ve said, better to lift something you’re not used to that might be a bit out of your comfort zone with a great group than by yourself doing your own shit.

Wiggles - sounds like a good idea, will keep in mind. Not only do I not ever train grip (have strapped up past 315 for forever), but I have baby hands. Carlos is 5’7" and his hands are a little bigger lollllll.

Greg - who knows man. The first few months all my numbers will likely be way down as they reprogram the way I lift. Stay tuned tho. Gonna get interesting.

Great session. Built some swag on the bench, hit a confident triple that I was told to hit, then had some fun with some lifts I had never done before.

Dynamic warm up, sled drags with light weight (100lbs), loosened up quads and hammies, 15 min., foam roll, etc

Bench - setup getting better, but still sucks - using a much wider grip (index on rings)

225 x 10, 6, 6 - from memory, sounds about right

Triceps death -Foam to 1 board, 2 board, 3 board, 4 board. Idea was 6 reps at each, then switch board out, 6 more, etc, but I was fucked by this point. Got 6 with the foam, then maybe 4-5 with the next, reset, then a triple, reset, then a double, then I was just getting stapled, lol. Conditioning ftw.

Then 4 sets of 15 Dizenzo rows (I think thats his name) with a fat bar

Then did 5 minutes worth of curling with the fattest bar I have ever seen.

I am torched.

If you don’t mind me asking, what sort of adjustments have the boys made to your bench set-up, etc? Be interested to know what areas you could improve on what already seems to be pretty good…

Literally EVERYTHING. Haha. It’s not a matter of making little tweaks, but more a matter of rebuilding it from the bottom to make it technically “perfect” for my structure. Compared to my lower body lifts, my bench has the most potential to be really strong, so we have high hopes. I take the set up much more seriously and methodically.

Feet up on the bench to really drive traps into the bench, maintain that pressure while setting my feet, etc. It’s gonna take months to really get it down, but hopefully I’ll be back to a 405 bench in a relatively short amount of time.

I slept like utter butthole. This hotel’s pillows blow ass, I am cripplingly sore, and I had horrible dreams when I did fall asleep. Weird. Heading to the airport in about 30 to head back to Austin for the next 2.5 weeks. Gonna miss home. :slight_smile:

Also, I’d like to add when I got to my hotel after lifting last night, I ran over to the nearest tavern, ordered a bowl of chicken tenders and a pepperoni pizza, and ate it all in glorious fashion. It was great. Needless to say, I’m not sporting the best abs I ever have currently… lol.
