I’d like to report that two days this week I did some kinda new thing- what’s call a Savickas Press- basically sitting on teh floor of the power rack and doing mp’s. I LIKE these! They made the lil bitty mid upper back muscles feel awakened! I’ll get some back straight eventually!! It’s getting there!! Did bar only ones saturday and today --sets of 10.

Today was a success just lifting, I had to push through some discomfort but it worked out ok. Lower back was not up for any further loads.

So all that work in the gym, posted it…and 16 minutes later my alarm went off ! Sounds about right.

Never done those presses; standing ohp or seated smiths for me. You’ll be strong with it, like all overhead pressing for sure.

HA! :smiley: Thanks Eric!! I’ve really turned into an early bird even on days off. I used to struggle to stay up and try and be awake later at night but…what’s the point? I like early mornings a lot! So peaceful and more importantly empty of other people!!!

Hey PUFF :D!!! No, I didn’t even think to try ankles crossed…hmmm…I have been sitting legs straight ahead and using a barbell. Worth a try though doing different positions!

I read a thread about reminding you lats to help out for deadlifts–and I tried it for fs and carries as well. It fucking works! The tip was “protect your pits!” as in lock you arms to your sides, whatever you need to do to call the lats into action. It really helped for carries!!! Really pleased so far!

HOLY cow. Busy at both clinics, called in to work very 1 am for a twelve hour non stop action shift and yesterday a 2am to noon non stopper as well. So no lifts yesterday but I am totally down for the extra money.

Somehow, having Moss being more mature and I dunno , something, I finally am acting like I am living in my place to stay. I’ve been living alone for six years and it’s just now at the point were I’d buy a microwave new instead of the thrift store. This weekend it’ll be lamps that actually are not deformed and wild but new and look nice. I even purchased an actual cutting knife. AND some more utensils.

Those are great lifts. What is your heaviest deadlift? 330 is pretty impressive to me. That busy at work sounds pretty rough, definitely can mess with the workout schedule. Best of luck getting your place set up the way you want.

I was picturing cris-cross applesauce sitting, and was thinking it could put you in a position where your pelvis isn’t level/ spine in an awkward place. No, I’d think having both feet in front with your pelvis nice and level the way you’re doing them would be better to keep all your vertebrae aligned.

I haven’t trained heavy carries in a long time, but you got me thinking about the lat activation aspect. I use sort of a similar cue to “protect your pits” when I Erg. My neighbor taught me to pretend you’re trying to hold a walnut in your pits when you’re on the rowing machine, to get the muscles in your mid-back more involved.

This just made me laugh and smile, smile and laugh. All it takes is one new couch to get you going! New is good, especially kitchen stuff, of which I am a big fan.

Hkd- the heaviest deadlift I have done is 360 a few years ago, most I’ve gotten to this year is 355.

I’ll take it since it’s still a thrill to be less body weight then I was then, not a huge amount but about 10 pounds that never ever would budge. Took a dog, a new job, a new day time schedule, and some serious waves of contentment and satisfaction that went along with those things to shift it–and It’s still a treat every day! I’m still shaped a bit funny but I feel loads better, still!

The FS felt super solid today–form felt tight and strong, just a nice lifting day after a treacherously busy work week. I had another surprise 1am to noon shift and also a migraine that kicked my ass tuesday. I took sunday off so I’m super excited to do a load of nothing. There were points this week were even laying on the couch sounded exhausting. BUSY BUSY BUSY.

Also my work nemesis- she doesn’t know she is my nemesis but she is since she told me my hair was “too progressive” , she is however a boss type-- stormed me into a corner while I was unaware to hug me and thank me for “being everything you are!!”. :{ AHHHH!!!

I for the most part love hugs and hg back… but not from her!!! :{ I’m still frightened and alarmed.

The Adult Responsibility Weekend continues. Went to the doctor for the first time in about 6 years for an exam, blood work, and UA. Felt nice ! So far so good and no surprises for anything.

{:I however might have a slightly low iron OR I don’t give very good samples…the lady had to do several lil finger pricks on me to get a blood sample for the iron test…my fingers and hands were too calloused to well up a lil blood drop :{ But also :D!

Next on the list is Dentist. In two weeks.

:smiley: Thanks Eric! Hair CAN be too progressive apparently. I wear it in a way now that doesn’t offend her, however it really does bite at my soul and stifles me. SOunds dramatic but it’s quite true!
