Brute's Book

I have never met a nice or even friendly chihuahua. Biting through the scrubs and nailed the tattoo sounds like a tough little dog and some bad luck for you. Hope it all turns out okay.

HA! HKD! Yeah it was a chomp! But not enough for me to need to do anything other then a say a few cuss words.

yesterday
deads
285x4x4 sets, 285x2, 300 x 2 singles
Most lifted in six months :)!
back extensions
ghr’s

today
fs 45x8, 115, 150, 180, 195, 210, 220
170x10, 180x6, 190x3, 195x2, 200

did this on saturday too–this new back extension thingie. Basically a ghr back extension but pulling a bb up. They are called ghr dead lifts or bb ghr back extensions I believe. Anywho, I’m trying em out.

ghr deads 95x7 x 3 sets
back extensions with holds up top

today
pull ups 10 sets of 6.

I am still proud of my pull ups. Because they are the first thing at 4:15 in the morning …I’m proud of my pull ups.

An unfortunate schedule, but still the leading option for time for me to do em.

Brute,

Looks like you’ve laid down a good foundation, the GHR deadlifts are badass! Don’t comment too often but your log is inspirational, one of those that gets me to the gym when I’m tired and not feeling it that day.

THANKS SCOTTO !!! :D!!! that means a lot1 I appreciate it!

Today I reintroduced the ssb . Very scared to do this. But I gotta start somewhere with putting a bar on my back.
A selection of things
ohs squats 111x5
ssb squats barx5 95x5, 115x5, 135 x5 x5 sets
ssb lunges barx5/leg, 55x8/leg, 65x8xleg, 75x8xleg
wide stance ssb squats 85 x8 x 8 sets.

I don’t like wide stance anything. Just feels totally wrong. Some one put a bee in my bonnet to try…now I can tell him it stupid but with a more current note. I’ve tried in the past to widen my back squat stance back when I was back squatting very often and it never flew. But whatever, I can handle getting some stuff in with low wt’s and I think it’ll help my butt grow a bit perhaps? I do think for heavy tries of things I’m more suited for quad loaded things.

Tried some carries with db’s.
25# db’s over head carry x 45-60 seconds x whatever distance . I did about 4 trips.
Then a smidge of swiss bar oh carries with some presses mixed in. Walked for about 40 seconds , did presses of the bar x 5, x6, x7, x5.
Trap bar walks- just the bar x 1 min, bar plus 50x 1 min, bar plus 50 x 3 mins of walks n distance while the Minsitry song finished.

today
fs 45x10, 115, 155, 180, 205, 215, 220
175x10, 185x6, 195x4, 200x2 x 4 sets
anderson zerchers 135x8, 185x8, 200x6, 215x4
ghr trap bar deads/ ghr extensions w/ tbar- trap bar plus 50 x6 x 4 sets, x7
back extensions hold at top x10, x10, x10 x 10
mp’s bar x8, 55x8, 65x8, 75x4

Today
deads 290x3 x 5 sets, 300x2 x 3 sets, 300
ghrs
back extensions with holds up top

Not a whole lot to log today but it was not too bad

fs
45x10, 115, 165, 185, 200, 210
180x8, 190x4, 195x2 x 3 sets
back extensions 1 set x50

this morning’s pull ups
8 sets of 7, a set of 6

today
ssb squats 155x5 x 5 sets
wide stance ssb squats 95x9 x9 sets
ssb squats 135x6, 155x2, 175
some trap bar walks- limited space since it was sadly snowing and I think the gym’d be pissed I took the stuff outside
135x min or so, 185x 2 trips of 30- 45 seconds

OH MY. during the night the gym acquired a new machine–it looks WONDERFUL. Called “the Derrick” Its an inverted ghr.
I cannot wait to try! I checked it out today while the owner showed a few people the ropes, I will try it tomorrow and I cannot wait!

I can’t figure it out, i even blew the picture up to try and read the instructions. It looks like a catapult to me.

Thanks silverblood something you need to see in use. So can the counterweight be used for assist?

Its intriguing is it not?? By just looking at it!! That’s it IN THE VID!

Today
fs not so hot but I had fun with other things, but still, not too shabby for the fs. I am always grateful for them.
fs 45x10, 125, 155, 175, 190, 200, 210, no go 220
185x7, 185x5, 195x2
anderson zerchers 135x10, 185x10, 200x8, 215x6, 230x4
regular zerchers 135x10, 155x10, 175x10
t bar walks - outside was ok today so I did them again 135x about 4 mins total between 5 trips
overhear bb carries 70# x 4 mins total between 2 trips

tried the Derrick thing. Its not as hard as a ghr but its ok! Fun! The thing has a counter balance wt chart on the instructions that is supposed to go by bw. The more you wt the more counter wt, but the less wt you but on the harder it is. I did it wit more wt thinking it’d be harder, then figured it out on my third set and dropped the counter wt. Its ok, fun, but…not exactly as had as a ghr… but I did still use wt on it. Kinda like an upside down, assisted ghr with longer rom maybe? And no pain on the knees which is nice.

so that machine I did a total of 4 sets, misc reps.
Regular ghr’s 4 sets of 10
ghr deads 105x6 x 3 sets

this vid might answer your question

could be funny watching the curl in the squat rack jerks try to figure this out.

:D!!! Thanks Silverblood and Scotto! I couldn’t find any vids to try and explain it yesterday! Perfect!

Here’s me trying it out. I just noticed a guy had some tips or something then decide I’d figure it out. Not real sure what he meant but the ankle pad thing kept moving and I probably klutzed it up bit. Maybe tomorrow I’ll be sore in new places? Or maybe I did it wrong? I dunno.

what’s your verdict so far?

Never seen one of those before. It’s at Armbrust? Gotta stop in there sometime.

Hey Silverblood! The verdict is I like em. I did them again today and they were fun. Not un-challenging, and not un-fun- so it satisfies my qualifications for stuff to do. Also my inner thighs felt it the next day

Snap! You should go there!! Its a great gym, lots of stuff, and lots of room. And people are all respectful and chill for the most part, and even better, serious.

Today
deads 45x10, 135x2, 185x2, 225x2, 255x2, 280, 300x2 x 5 sets, 300 x1
derrick thing x 2 sets
back extensions x 50
