Brute's Book

Thanks 2B! You know, I really appreciate that! I felt every pound of those deads! I’m going to make sure I do them that way in the future–no short cuts!
And for the good jobs vibes!

Thanks Scotto! I hope so!

I feel incredibly optimistic about things!!! Its like I’ve lost 50 pounds or finally popped a giant throbbing zit. NO more!

The end is in site, parole is coming!!! I’m so pleased to finally be ready to go from my job. I am so excited to be the new kid somewhere!!!

Brute,
Glad to see you so optimistic. I hope it works out. The workouts are looking strong. Hopefully the puppy has recovered and is not holding a grudge about the surgery. Are you changing clinics or changing careers? So good to see all the positive energy here.

Thanks HKD!! It would be just a new hospital to work at, but also potentially I could be doing other areas of teching. I"ve only done ER work the past 6.5 years, so if I find a place that wants me and its not er I’m ok with that too. There are lot of different kinda fields in teching–most places do general practice stuff which is sick appointments, dentals, spays / neuters etc. I’ve only done trauma-- er and icu critical care stuff.

It so exciting! Any place I go I’ll get paid more then I do now , so no real loss! Its just taken me a long long time to finally have enough of the bs from my place now and the disadvantages outweigh the pros… I’ve proven to myself I can be a badass, .now I’m more then happy just having a chill job if that’s all I can find!

I’ve nothing to prove!! But I am happy to continue er as well, just …I can’t tell you how happy I am and optimistic . Really, I can’t loose!

today
pull ups 12 sets of 7

I’ve had to cut the reps down since they were just not getting done well the higher ones the last few months–they looked shitty. The 7 reps today had good form and better hand placement. Start doing things right.

That’s awsome! What hand placement do you use? wide grip, neutral, regular, chin? I use neutral because the regular and wide grips were giving me shoulder and elbow problems.

Thank Beth! Well I can certainly relate to you on the joint pain they cause! I do mine just regular grip-- a bit wider then shoulder width I guess.

But yeah, I developed electic throbbing left elbow pain from pull ups for sure. I can only tolerate them once a week for reps because they are defiantly taxing on my elbow, and wrist joints! And chins I feel kinda make my elbow pain worse!

I walked into the gym and walked out today! I’m going to just take the week off since I can’t get my act together and have no focus for lifting. I am apartment hunting now too which is …well…apartment hunting. Still super excited but MAN is it expensive to live in Denver :{ Why??? But I would rather spend more money on rent then on gas driving to a new job so that’s that…I have 6 days to decided if I want to leave my place now or not…hmm.

My place is kinda gross…so I’d get no deposit back but whatever. HMMMMMM.

HMMMMMM!!!

Today
deads 135, 225x2, 275x2, 300x2, 320
hook grip 245x3 x 3 sets, 265x2 x 2 sets–ARGH those are hard as.my grip is horrible!!!
tried deads off blocks today, using a belt 235, 275, 305 these too are hard for me to start at that position. I feel better using a belt for those
ghr’s

I’m about to go to a working interview gah! Nervous!

I did get mad at my turbo gym today. It has cool equiptment–nice deadlift ae, ssb, log press, lots of bars , ghr…but flying f&ck is it not CRAMMED with a bunch of crap. I hate that!! I’m probably going to just face using 24hr fitness when I move. I get so mad trying to haul shit out of the way to lift!! And its got a lot of crap no on uses but I think the owner just got cheap, used machines argh…just makes me freak out to see such pack rat clutter!

I like to walk between sets and its a total obstacle course…margh.

Good luck on the apartment hunt!

Thanks 2B!!! I shall need all the luck I can get on that front!

Yesterday
fs 195x1, x2, x3, x4 , x4, x3, x2, x1, 200, 205, 210
anderson zerchers 205x5, 225x5, 245x5
regular zerchers 185x5
zercher gm’s 135x8
gm’s 115x10, 125x10, 135x10
ghr’s x8, x8
facepulls

The working interview went welI I think on my part. The tech who I shadowed was really smart and cool. I’m not really sure what my plan is as I have another to get an interview and stuff. Its cool though just seeing other hospitals and seeing how they do things.

Does all the zerching not bother your bicep tendons or anything?

Great news about the new job! You should move to the foothills. We have several vet hospitals/clinics. You will be an asset wherever you choose to go.

Hey csuli! OH…um…I use the pussy pad for ALL zerchers :} . I have no reason to feel hardcore about that! SO my biceps and delicate elbows are fine with them. The places I feel zerchers the most are abs and butt, upper back I feel them the day after. As long as i use the pussy pad, I am ok. A bit red on my inner elbows but nothing major. Otherwise I’d be using like 85# at the most!

Thanks Snap! I am looking to move to maybe wheatridge/arvada area if this job doesn’t pan out …I just heard back from the first place I tried, where i had my working interview. The people really liked me! And are very interested in me! I feel most honored and valuable! Still have to decide some things.

I have another place I’m waiting to get an interview set up with so if this one doesn’t go…I have options. I feel like a naive chump when asked what wage I’d like, I’m so used to being paid crap it won’t take much to impress me with wages and I told them this! I’m so not a money person. Chances are whoever gets me will get a good deal, I hope so. I just like to do a good job and feel good about what I offer and give to the patients and clinic. And to be able to support myself and Mossimo. I value being a hard worker!! It makes me feel pride. But I’m no spring chicken and have to make dough to suppert myself!

I’m doing my pull ups now.

Glad to hear about the opportunities opening up for you. That’s great! I know what you mean about the wage question. I tend to provide a range from upper middle to around the top of what I believe the position pays. When you have as much experience as you do, it’s quite valuable to an employer. They know they are investing in someone they won’t have to spend tons of training on, which can be quite costly with someone who is not experienced. And good hiring managers know when they’ve come across a potential employee with solid ethics and are passionate about their work. I know from an employer perspective, for someone who is passionate and experienced, I’ve always offered more than the median rate, right off the bat. Looking forward to hearing about the job. You don’t need it, but best of luck!

AH!!! Thanks Wiex!! That’s a great thing to say to someone! I appreciate it, form an employers perspective… it gives me some extra confidence!

I did get a job offer, and it was a GOOD offer. One more place to check into but its going to be a tough call. I have no idea what I’ll choice. Before today I was pretty confident in my choice, but I dunno now!! Its something I’m totally not used to–having really good options either way. Its been a long time coming, long time. I hope I prove worthy for whoever I decide to go for. I will make them proud one way or the other.

I just was way distracted and did some fronties. I’m so very distracted when it comes to training.
135x2, 175, 195, 210, 220, fial at 230. Seriously all I did. This will catch up with me I know but I can’t keep my focus!! CHANGES!!!

today was deads. New lease on my deadlift, hook grip until further notice.
these singles were not hook though- 225, 275, 305, fail at 330 twice ARGH
hook grip 245x3 x 3 sets
deficit hook grip 185x2, 205x5, 225x5
gm’s 115x10 x 2 sets, 95 x 10
fat man pull ups and back extensions

Yesterday I did pull ups while Moss was at a play date. I strained my back probably on Sunday with my failed dead lift but I think it’ll mend after some rest. I have an old flare up of a right sided, kinda L4- L5 of something that gets mad every now and then when I lift stuff stupidly. So nothing until maybe sunday or so I’ll do some light stuff.

pull ups
8 sets of 10, 8, 7

I declined the job I got offered from the first clinic I applied too. It was a really hard choice that just came down to where I wanted to live. I’ve lived in that area o town before and don’t really like it --no trees!!! And its just a bunch of cookie cutter apartments…I need some kinda funk.

I have another interview set up next tuesday. I have four buddies who work there now–transplants form my current hospital! HA! Its a nicer area for me to live, cheaper , older, but more trees and an actual hill. There are no hills in Denver! So a hill means a lot to me!

The shift they are hiring for is a daytime spot which I have mixed feeling about only because I like ER so much. BUt I also think it’d be a mixed blessing since I admit I am a bit burnt out from all the years of running and being in the shit as an ER tech. I just don’t want to get rusty on my skills, but I could probably use a break up before I get completely burnt out.

I have a back up plan should stuff go bad, the first clinic really really wanted me and even told me to call them back when I’d changed my mind  ! So we’ll see!! Very exciting times! Lost of changes ahead.

today pull ups
2 sets of 11, 6 sets of 10, 8, 5

I have a job interview/working interview Tuesday. I REALLY want to work at this place. I am unsure about the position they have available and whether it will be what I want to do…but I just really want to work at the clinic itself. Maybe if I get an offer maybe a position I want will open up?..mah…I just want to work there, and I don’t want to work at my place much longer now. And I totally put my USAPL member ship info on the application.

So I am going to have to get hyped up and my confidence going tomorrow. I hope it works out…hope hope hope!

I GOT THE JOB!!!

ah ha!! I am so excited!!! :)!

pre job news I did some fs–working reps actually helped my back feel better

135, 180, 195, 210, fail at 220

I have a lot of work to do to get back in shape but holy taledo am I excited!!! new job!!!

Woot! Such awesome news Bruty! Congrats!!!

Oh congratulations! They could not get a nicer person as an employee . . . Or a stronger one!

Huzzah!
