Damn nice 545, I thought you were going to do it for reps as it came pretty easy…
Awesome form too on that one…

Damn,Damn.damn, damn! I second that - heartily. Do you know how long I have been waiting for you to pull 600 and to actually see someone’s first 600 pull?
Nice job getting it. You worked for it, man. Props to you for trying to get it 2 more times so there’d be vid.
Nice pull Bunny. You’ll get it next time. I know if I miss a lift like that the best thing to do is wait a couple of weeks before trying again. I’m hoping I’ll be able to get 600 in my meet at the end of the May.

1st time I read this I read it as “peace” seeds. Couldn’t for the life of me figure out what those were.
I think I need to get my eyes checked.
Man, you’ve got women talking to you! You young guys get all the action. Catching up here. You’re putting up some great numbers.

That’s funny. That’s how I read it too.
I got the same thing at my last meet. I was an inch from locking out 309lbs and I thought I was shaking like a chihuahua with parkinsons. Good to know it was actually like a dog shittin’ peach seeds.

just kidd’n. awesome pull. if 600 was a bit shakey then there’s pretty much no chance that you are going to hit it on the second attempt. deadlift takes more out of the CNS than any other lift…period. In the future, if it isn’t a clean lift, meaning- no sticking points, then DON’T go for another attempt. All it does is set your recovery back.
I think we need to incorporate more speed pulls in your training. i think that will do the trick as well as elevated pulls at knee level really working on forcing the hips through hard and fast.
great job bro. [/quote]
Roger wilco Meat-sai. I am feeling a little tired and tender today.
Thanks everyone… I think it was a mental barrier for me as much as a physical one too.
And as for trusting the guy with the camera, I was standing between him and the exit. Plus, I think I can run faster angry than he can being scared.
After some advice from Meat, and the incessant whining of Court and Ouroboro… I am going to start making arrangements to enter the meet in Belle River (June 6th I think), for the sake of experience.
So…- mental checklist- I have to join a powerlifting federation, register for the meet, buy a singlet (are they mandatory?), buy knee socks (are those mandatory too?), and maybe get some amonia capsules/ nose torque stuff- might as well try this stuff too.
As for openers etc., not gonna worry about that right now, see how the next couple of weeks play out.
Anything I am forgetting, other than directions?
ALWAYS make your opener on each lift. Missing your opener puts you behind the 8 ball and will mess your mind up.
Practice the commands during your training. If you don’t have a partner, say them to yourself. Do every lift in training as if it were for the gold medal.

i bought my singlets from elitefts. they sell Metal brand. i think i spent $30 for a singlet and the Metal deadlifting socks were, like, $15. don’t worry about the amonia for this one. i expect you to get ALL of your lifts at this first meet. It’s all about experience. you will have enough to worry about without thinking about the lifts. i’ve used amonia, but it’s really only effective on the deadlift. the bench and squat are way to complicated to use amonia on. you can also buy amonia capsules on elitefts. just get all three at the same time. experiment with the amonia during training. don’t try it at a comp. for the first time.

Chihuahua with Parkinsons? Tie a martini shaker to that!

I second this. If you miss the first and easiest lift, the judges are looking more critically at you on 2nds and thirds. If you bang out your first in precise form and by the commands, they’ll actually cut you slack on the heavier attempts, sometimes, or not be as critical since you proved yourself with the first.
Rule #46 is brutal but at least you have cheer leaders. Congrats on 600 that is just f’n awesome bro. I agree 1000 by August, you’re amazing!

You are absolutely right. My coach helped me set my lifts for my first meet and I was embarrassed by what he said I should open with. I was super glad I went with his advice since I only got my opener on bench and got my total and qualifier for nationals. I was the first lifter of the day at my first meet ever. I just about was shitting myself.
I’ll bet MM can give you good advice on setting your attempts.
Send away for your CPU card asap. The deadline for submissions is June 3 I believe. Double check the OPA website.
I’m so excited. I didn’t whine either. I did a cartwheel. Court whined and bitched.
I was busy with bullshit yesterday to notice this
AWESOME pull!
Bunny you are a strong dude!
no go buy a mantard and 70’s socks
and do a meet.
kmc
Mantard!
I LIKE that!

I stick to what I’m good at.
Great to hear you’re going to do the meet
For deadlifting knee socks, I use soccer socks, Ouro uses knee high dress socks, some people use Titan socks, etc.
Shipping is usually a bitch, so if you want, go through Titan Canada. Just google it, send the guy an email and he’ll tell you if he has singlet/amonia/DL socks, etc in stock. Plus it’s much quicker… I sent my money/order for my bench shirt last Wed and it should arrive today or tomorrow.
As for the CPU card, that you need to get on asap. Marlene is pretty quick on the turnaround though. You can even send in your registration for the meet before you get your card and where it asked for your card number, just put ‘applied for’.
Also, the meet is either push/pull or 3lift, so make sure you sign up accordingly on the reg form.
That’s all my advice, now to go back to being whiney and bitchy ![]()

Gonna try and get this (register/ singlet etc) done today, after I get up from my nap. Damn… another fun filled evening last night in the Big Smoke.
This what I did yesterday;
MAY 6TH M.E BENCH (WEEK 1)
2 BOARD BENCH PRESS
bar x warmup
135x10
225x3
(working sets)
315x 5 sets of 3- each rep working set paused
BB FLOOR PRESS (legs straight)
225x3
(working sets- all reps paused)
295x3
295x 4 sets of 2
FLAT DB BENCH
100x7
100x8
100x6
all reps paused
ROPE CABLE PUSHDOWNS
a bunch for a bunch
Did not have a spotter for any sets, nobody I trusted in the gym. This training alone certainly sucks sometimes
