You ladies are too damn funny… I can just imagine the two of you at a meet mooning each other in the middle of each other’s lifts or something…lol!
KMC- Yeah, I screwed up that deload pretty good eh?! lol! Oh well… live and learn.
We did not have water when I was a kid. We had beer… made my cheerios taste funny, lol! So, I will have to get you a beer… or 10!.
Court- No hijack worries, I feel almost voyeuristic reading the conversations, lol!
I have not decided at this point if I am going to do the Belle River, and if I do, it will probably be the Push/ Pull, as that is what I am currently training for (meet in August).
Ouro- If I do attend the meet in Belle River, I have a buddy who said that he would come to watch… but he has no idea about powerlifting events, kind of like me.
The event in BC that I am attending, this is also a mini-vacation while I am out there, and my wife will be there… maybe a couple of friends that are competing in other events (track/ golf/ hockey etc.), but again, nobody with experience in this type of event. I will be on my own.
Just knee sox? Cool. That makes things much easier then.
From what I hear though, everyone is real helpful… and it is usually not to hard to find someone to give you hand. I will be lifting raw, so the equipment will not be an issue… right?
This is why I wanted to get one event under my belt, just to get rid of the jitters and see what it is all about.
But… now I see that if I get equipment, I will need a “handler”, hmmmm… this puts a different view on things…[/quote]
Even if you decide not to compete at Belle River, it would be good just to watch a meet before you compete to get a feel for it; the pace, the commands and whatnot.
It certainly helps to have someone with you when you’re wearing gear. For me, the squat suit isn’t an issue but someone definitely needs to get me in my shirt and get it seated, jacked down and belted. In fact, it was one of the T-Nation guys that ended up with his hands up the legs of my singlet seating my shirt at the Niagara Open. We’re super close now. For a first meet, it isn’t a bad idea to do it raw rather than having to worry about 5 million things at once.
