Thanks MJ!
You can count on it Skid!
I am shooting for a 340+ bench and a 600+ DL.
I’m predicting 355 bench, 615 dead.

more is not better. this is about getting stronger. hit it hard and get out. you can increase the intensity if you want by going to failure on your last set of the accessory stuff, do drop sets, rest/pause, or supersets. but keep it to your accessory stuff. for recovery reasons you need to hit the ME stuff hard and brief but you can go hard for a prolonged time with the accessory stuff as long as the weight is moderate and the reps are high.
Alright, alright… just my impatience kickin’ in, every now and then I feel that if I don’t leave the gym completely spent I have cheated myself… but ya have to admit, I am getting better, right!? (cue the crickets)

I feel the same way and have to fight my urge to do a shit ton of everything. I find it particularly challenging as a meet approaches and we’re just doing some heavy singles. I’m constantly yelled at to “sit down, rest and eat a bacon sandwich or something”
How’s your toe?

I would be very happy with those numbers, thanks Eco!
APRIL 22- BENCH- DELOAD
I have never done a “deload” before, so I was (am) still not sure exactly what I was supposed to do, other than lower the %'s of the weights I have been doing.
So, with that said… here are today’s activities;
FLAT BENCH- full r.o.m.
bar x warmup
135x10
225x3
225x3
(working set)
275x9 1 rep PR + 1 rep 2 finger spot… so I am counting it as 10 reps… upping the weight next session/ cycle!!
FLAT BENCH PIN PRESS (pin #6)
60%= 225x5
65%= 245x5
70%= 265x5
D.E. FLAT BENCH (with bands)
65%= 225x 8 sets of 3 reps (60 secs between sets)
CLOSE GRIP BB BENCH
225x10
225x5
DB TATES
55x10x2
TRICEP CABLE/ ROPE PUSHDOWNS
70x10
70x8
ABS
weighted side bends and cable crunches- 3 sets for a bunch each, did not note weight used
So there you have it. I was not sure if one is supposed to do accessory stuff on deload… but I did anyway, but only 2 sets each exercise.
Looking forward to next weeks test of bench.

Hey Julie! Welcome to my little nook!
Well, the nail has not fallen off yet, probably 'cuz I have my toe taped, trying to get the skin and other various ugly stuff underneath to toughen up before it does come off. And, trying to ward off any infection… touching wood
Back to work tomorrow, so it should be interesting trying to get a boot on. Hope I do not have to chase anyone, that could be painful.
I sent an email to Mr. Levesque by the way regarding the singlet and the deadlift sox… no reply as of yet.

He will reply. He always does. After all, it’s his business. Louis also judges at meets quite frequently and he competed at Nationals in Moosejaw at the same time as I did.
I was thinking about the socks. I think they likely just mean knee socks of some variety. I just wear knee socks from Walmart. Other people wear soccer socks. Basically anything that comes to you knee.
Do you have to wear heavy boots for work? That will hurt. Maybe they’ll let you wear moccasins or bedroom slippers for a few days?

sorry for not explaining a deload. this is definitely NOT a deload. a deload week is basically just going in a doing a few sets to keep from getting tight. i like to do machines on a deload week. it shouldn’t be hard at all. no burn just a few sets of maybe three different movements.

Lol! Nah, I don’t think they will, and if I did I probably would never live it down anyways.
I am already getting a couple of my buddies calling me… “You comin’ into work or did you break another nail”. Ha ha. Real funny, mother %$#@!. How 'bout I rip your $%#@! nail right off by the roots and we sit around and laugh about it.
But I’m not bitter…

Thanks Meat, MJ…
I never really thought about it (deload session) until I got to the gym… then I was like… ok, I know I drop the %'s in the M.E. stuff… but what about the other stuff?
Oh well, let’s see what happens on test day.
How 'bout those pesky Bruins? Finally able to beat Montreal. Great 4 games…if you are a Bruins fan.

I am a Bruins fan… f’n hate the Habs. I gave up on the Leafs 4 years ago.
I meant to ask, if you do the Belle River Push Pull do you have anyone going with you? What about the one out west?
I’m just asking because for my first meet, I had no idea where to go, what to do or where to stand. Fortunately, I was handled by a sweet 19 year old kid. I would have been in a bad way if he wasn’t there to tell me what to do, where I was in the line up, when to warm up and submit my lifts.
It’s not that you can’t do it alone, it just makes for a better experience if you have a person helping. In clubs, it’s usually members who aren’t competing that help the others out. A friend works well too. For the St. Thomas meet next weekend, Court will be handling Ruggerlife … if she can refrain from killing him.

Wait - what’s this? You’re going to do the Belle River? I’ll be honest, I just read the last page so not sure if you plan on doing the 3 lift or just the Push/Pull. They have both. I’ll be competing in Belle River. Woohoo!!
And yes, I will be handling Ruggerlife on Saturday. He’s excited to get handled by me. I plan on groping a bit because, well, I can… plus his wife won’t be there to beat me hahaha.
I agree with Julie… if you can have someone around to help out, do it. Especially as a first meet. And for the deadlift socks, anything that comes to your knee will do. I wear soccer socks and coordinate my outfits, but that’s me ![]()

Are you following me around you lezbionic stalker?
I have a feeling RL won’t be the same after you handle him on Saturday. I’m not sure yet if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.
My guys will be with their dad that weekend so I think I’ll come down and watch. Therefore, my services are available for anyone that needs them.

Yes.
To be honest, when I posted this thread was the most recent post on the forum and I saw your name… I just had to see which poor soul you were harrassing now.
Will your video services be available as well? You know…since I taped all your lifts in Ottawa and all…
PS. Sorry for the hijack (well not really…) it happens.

I’ll video whatever you like. You know, softcore porn in the ladies room and what not. Don’t forget my video skills run to a parkinson’s patient with dt’s. Shaky, shaky, shaky.
I was thinking that if anyone needed assistance with handing in attempts and stuff. I know you have the Hoiman in the bag so I’ll offer my services elsewhere for that.
