Once again, according to the program used during his 1965 stay in Hong Kong, Lee performed bicep curls using a weight of 80 pounds and 8 repetitions. This would equate to an estimated 1 repetition maximum of 110 pounds and would place him in the 100th percentile for the 121-140 pound weight class. From a training perspective, one must question how a discrepancy of this proportion, between his upper and lower body strength, evolved in Lee’s training. Nevertheless, it demonstrates that his upper body strength was developed to its maximum potential.

I’m 29, 5’11" and about 143 pounds. I basically never work out. I sit at the computer and read most of the time. I’ve been smoking cigarettes and pot for about 16 years. I don’t eat right, or enough.
I can curl a 110-pound barbell. If I couldn’t do it today, give me two weeks of eating and working out… When I was 15, and shorter and skinnier (but working out), I could curl a 100-pound barbell.
I occasionally pick up my 40-pound dumbbells and bust out about 5-7 reps.
Now I know my upper-body strength is superior to most despite my lifestyle. I was a great arm-wrestler when I was younger beating much heavier guys.
But consider that I’m almost as strong as Bruce Lee was (at least in one important measure.) What does that say about me? What does that say about Bruce?
I’m sure Bruce would brutally kick my ass in combat though.
