Damn… I did a close-stance, ATG 30 rep set to failure on the V-squat 3 days ago to try to “ease” my quads back into training. Lets just say I’m still having trouble walking. It’s like my legs are being stabbed by flaming icicles.
Low rackpulls are going to be rough today. :S Haha.
So, by doing more reps on all warm-up sets I thought I’d have to lower the weight on my top-sets.
Well, blast. For some funny reason, this totally didn’t work out today.
Was leg-B day, 45 deg. leg-presses and I pretty much did like 20 sets to get to my top set, adding a plate per side every time (wasn’t sure how much I’d be able to do with the new method, thus the crazy amount of sets to get to my top set). Kept thinking “so, when do I finally manage less than 10 reps?”… Didn’t even rest my usual 3 hours between sets, so suddenly I found myself maxing out the machine and still being able to do 11 reps, which is a 1 plate per side PR and only 1 rep less than my previous best. And the session was still over in 40 minutes or so, despite me doing ham, ab and calf work, all similarly PR’ed.
Hmmm.
Weird. I wanted to use less weight, damnit… And what do I do now? Work up to 50 reps with that weight on the leg press because I can’t add anymore? Fuck this gym.

Well hey, think of it as training the way BB’ers are “supposed” to: Light weight, high reps.

Yeah, it worked.
Except that I got 150kg*8 on my 5/3/1 day two weeks back. So that was -10kg +1 rep, which just seems silly. Not too worried though as I’m sure I’ll at least match that rep count come next friday with 147.5kg. Just an off day.

To be honest, I only care about my wave 3 numbers on 5/3/1.
There have been times when I managed less on wave 1 and 2 than I did on the same waves the previous cycle, only to totally blow my wave 3 PR away… The cycle results are what’s important.

It was pretty strange though… 's been a while since I started with only a plate per side on the first set
I remember the times when I was straining badly to get 6-8 reps with 4 plates per side… (shortly after I began training… 3 Pps were difficult, but doable… My legs sucked so badly… 4 Pps were a major achievement haha)
Also have no idea how I managed to do like a 155 or so reps on that leg press all the way up the weight ladder with no more rest between my sets than the time I needed to slap on 2 more plates each time… Guess all those DC widowmakers have taught my quads to replenish their energy reserves in a few seconds, before the next cluster of dreaded breathing reps lol

I don’t work until next thursday, girl is coming mon/tues/wed, and its deload week now. Already fucking pumped to hit the next cycle. I also had a dream about benching 315+ last night, we had 315 but my workout partner was an idiot and put like 335 or 345 on it and I did it. It was weird. Half the reps were done in the smith machine, half were on a regular bench. And the bar when up all weird. The whole thing was weird.
The point is I dreamed about hitting 315, so I guess it’s a sign? xb-c what do ya think??
