Brotherhood of Iron: Omega

With Jacked Diesel back in here, I’m pretty sure everyone has to like bench 315 for 10 or else we’ll be made fun of.

Extra Workout

Sled Dragged for 12 trips.

What # are you guys going to race to? First to get 225x5+ or something?

im just trying to beat him in anything lol.

hmmm lets see

i have a 405x3 RDL

Lol I happen to remember back when Bug did RDLs all the time he was using some pretty impressive weight for higher reps. I have a feeling he will be along to shatter this opportunity as well. lol

Maybe we should all jump him at the Arnold next year or something?

damn you

how are you taller than me, lighter than me, stronger than me, and more jacked than me?

I weighed in at 204 this morning(finally back to my pre-injury weight woo), and I’m pretty fucking lean(maybe I will put up pictures here soon so this isn’t just heresay anymore) and Josh and Bug destroy me, we can go post on FML together Live.
Ah live doesn’t mind me looking more jacked…because his chest and shoulder pressing #s are better (or maybe that makes him more mad? lol). Plus I’m shorter (technically just shy of 5’10").

Hahaha, or I could just direct them to your sweet you tube videos, carlos

You’re all really gay.

I don’t currently do RDL’s cuz I got strong on them (as Josh said), 405 for maybe 8-10, and it didn’t do shit for my hammies. So I’m hitting SLDL’s and leg curls with better form harder now.

Anyways, good to see some of the “old guard” come back. I remember that the Klemson Krew was strong back in the day around these parts. Always good to have someone put my numbers to shame.

Anyways, as far as numbers to race to… I’ve love to be repping 225 for 8-10. That would be pretty awesome. So whoever wants to race to that (THAT ISNT THERE ALREADY AHERM JD).

H4M, your squat is still fuckin strong and youre a cardio bunny now! Kudos brotha.

Today’s legs

-front squat 220x4
-lifefitness horizontal leg press 290x10
-some db sldls for the stretch, 90x15
-hands off leg curl (or chest up, whatever you call them) 95x8

my squat really needs frequency it seems for me to be able to go heavier with it…

I had the same exact experience Bug…got my RDLs way strong and still had shitty hammies. I hit SLDLs now pretty hard and go as low as I can…I think I hit 335x12 or 13 last week.

Chest day, and it was pretty fucking bad. The gym I lift in is normally on the cool side(probably mid 70s), but today it was like 90 in there, and while I’m sure plenty of people lift fine in those conditions, when you’re used to it being cooler it fucking sucks ass. Anyhow:

Flat Bench: 245x7(I really fucking wanted 8, and I thought I had it fine early but I ran out of gas so fast, when I went for it I got like 6-8 inches up and stalled. Oh and I had no spotter so I got to look awesome dumping the weight) That’s +20lbs but -3 reps, doesn’t really seem like any improvement at all tbh, fuck my pressing seriously.

Incline DB: 85sx11(+1 rep, meh)

DB Flyes: 50sxsomething, at this point I just wanted to get out, it just wasn’t a good day, I guess I really let the heat get to me or something.

Oh, Austin, I never mentioned this. But DUDE, you really need to work on your posing haha. Especially if you’re gonna be a bad-ass bodybuilder, you need to get on that shit ASAP haha.

The angle of the vid made it tough to see everything clearly, but in my very humble opinion, that front doublebicep could look a lot better if you hit it better. I would turn your fists more in to make your biceps peak more, and lower your elbows to make yourself look wider. You’re kind of doing it like Trey Brewer (which I dislike) and I don’t think it compliments his lack of backwidth too well. Also, take a deep breath and suck in your air to make yourself look bigger up top and smaller on the bottom when hitting this pose (and other front poses like front lat spread).

RE: rear lat spread… Definitely a lot to work on here. I would watch the pro’s hit theirs… I’d shoot your elbows back and scrunch up that back musculature, hook your thumbs pretty deep, like almost near you spine, and roll your scapulae out while “flaring” the lats.

EDIT: attempted to take one pic “imitating” you, and one how I would do it. Didnt come out so hot since I had to hold my phone.
Totally couldn’t agree more bro. My posing sucks and with that being said, my muscle is shown properly. In my defense, the shitty video camera I have which is actually just a regular camera blows and I can’t stress enough how I look so much different in person, when I trained with crod, he said I looked nothing like I did on here.

Anyways thanks for the advice luckily I have a few years to work on this :).

Shit session today, think I am getting close to the point where I will need to cruise.

Alt DB Curls
(25kg) 55lb DBs x 10, 6, 3 (19RP)

EZ Hammer Curl (bar weight not included)
(25kg) 55lb x 20 SS

Hammer Strength seated Calf Extensions
(90kg) 198 lb x 12

Seated leg curls

well me and bug are pretty similar in height and weight, i just remember before he was dieting he had some really high numbers then he dieted down and obviously he numbers came down too so i got all excited and thought i could catch up as i wasnt far off… then he stopped dieting.

plus you gotta climb the ladder one rung at a time, after i beat Bug ill come for you Josh lol.

i have really tight hamstrings, i cant even go that far down unless i load the bar up with 315

Just looking for some insite and honesty here. When it comes to increasing certain lifts, it’d be impossible to go up 5 pounds for the same amount of reps every week. With that being said it can take mr a month to 6 weeks on certain exercises to bump up 5 pounds and keep the same reps, when it comes to me lifts. With that being the case the lift would increase 40-60 pounds per year and that seems pretty damn good.

The clearest example is my bench. I’ll start off with let’s say 340 pounds and keep nailing it for a double for as many weeks as it takes for me to hit a triple. Once the triple is completed I’ll bounce up to 345 and do the same. This can take some time.

I guess what trying to ask is about everyones progression. Obviously it’s not linear because there are times when my strength sky rockets and others when it stagnates but for the most part it’s pretty predictable.

Opinions, how are your gains?

I look at it this way, by the time I’m 21 I’ll be well on my way to benching 500 pounds (as long as I’m injury free of course) so I’ll just compete against the clock boys even though I cam definetly hold my own pretty well now :).

Had a great chest workout today.

Bench: 225x5 245x5 275x3
Incline dumbbell: worked up to 90x6
HS Decline: 4 plates each side for 6 reps
Pec Deck: Stack for 6 reps

Left the gym with my chest pumped and burning.

Austin as far as my progression, its similar to yours for Bench Press. Been stuck at 275x3 and 315 max for about 6 weeks. Before that I was increasing my max 5-10 lbs a month on average. Mostly in spurts though.

what kind of opinions are you looking for? you said it, you can’t always add weight to the bar just because you want to, just because you did 4 reps last week doesn’t mean you’re going to do 5 this week.

there’s no magical way to go around this other than:

steroids
powerlifting suits
other lifting gear like straps, wraps and belts.

and even then those will only get you so far for so long before the same issue kicks in again.

if you’re really stagnating and making no real progress at all look at your exercise routines: see whats stale that you can swap out. sometimes a new movement can elicit new growth which creates carryover to other lifts

look at your schedule: how often are you eating, what are you eating and how much
when are you resting, when are you sleeping, how long, how’s the quality

look at your training itself: toggle with volume - sets/reps, toggle with weight, toggle with rest, toggle all this things independently toggle them in relationships

you should really know all this by now.

its a lot easier to gain 50 pounds to your lifts a year during the first few years, it gets harder to add that weight as you go on. unless you’re using copious steroids. just saying.

I felt like GB today. I have this big white t-shirt that is way too big for me that I like to wear on leg day. I dunno why. It’s really dirty now. And I like to think that some day I will fill it out as if it’s an adult medium. Got warmed up on the bike and it was fucking war. Last leg day before the deload.

(Side note: forgot my belt today, and I usually squat with one… Prob made a slight difference.)

-Squats
135lbs x 15
225lbs x 10
315lbs x 6
385lbs x 8 (took these nice n’ deep. Felt damn good. Almost didn’t got for #8 but I sacked up and down I went).
315lbs x 10 (god these were hard my quads were so fried)
225lbs x 20 (kept these with tension on the quads… holy shit. Pukemaster 2000)

-Leg extensions (most painful sets ever. I feel like Tom Platz)
120lbs x 25
150lbs x 20
220lbs x 15

-Lying leg curls
130lbs x 12 DROP 70lbs x 8 DROP 30lbs x 8 (chest up on last set) *2 sets kinda like this
70lbs x 15

The pump I got on these was insane. I was in pain I didn’t know what to do with my legs to make it go away.

Awesome.

SLDL’s *at this point, I’ve just got no juice left… gonna havta figure out a way to get these in.
135lbs x 10
225lbs x 10
315lbs x 10

Went home. Yeah buddy. BUTTON POPPIN PECS TOMORROW. Actually my chest numbers are really shitty right now. Gonna study for a few hours then I’m gonna reply to your post Austin.

I wasn’t really looking for opinions maybe just to see how everyone else was progressing to guage my progress.

And I know I will crack 500 raw and drug free in the next few years. Just saying.
