Sumo Deadlift
315 x 5

Big time PR

GOOD JOB!!! It looked like it went up easy
Thanks a lot I was surprised how easy it was.

I moved my stance out a bit further and if you look at my video from last week where I did 295 I was over compensating with my back. Since I moved my stance out more I don’t do that.

In the 3 weeks I have been doing sumo deadlifts they went from 275 x 3 to 315 x 5.

What I’am doing now is working great, I will be getting some briefs to wear in a month or so.

This isn’t a philosophy thread. You can go ahead and start a thread with that title over in the Get a Life forum, I’m sure it’ll start a very heated debate, which seems to be what your after.

I still cannot fucking walk moving around campus was miserable. Did arms today. Eating schedule was fucked up, I was tired as fuck, and no energy. The college life.

Thursdays - Arms

EZ-Bar curls, (wide grip, which was new)

45lbs x 10
65lbs x 10
75lbs x 8
95lbs x 6
95lbs x 8 (I think)

Incline DB curls

35’s x 14
42.5’s x 12
50’s x 10

Decline Close-grip bench to neck (thanks Ceph)

135lbs x 10
185lbs x 12
205lbs x 10
235lbs x 7 (I hit the pins to rack and just crashed, ha)

Decline DB extensions (trying to maintain good tech.)

30’s x 15
40’s x 12
50’s x 7

Hammer curls / Pressdowns SS

45’s x 12 / #12 x 15
45’s x 10 / #14 X 12
45’S X 8 SLOW, then some forced pinwheel curls, then drop set to 30’s x 4 / STACK x 10+3+1

Then we tried the finisher from that article for tris, but I remembered it wrong and thought you STACKED the 35 on the 45, etc. Let’s just say I didn’t get past the 25 plate haha.

Then 2 sets of calves. I hope they grow, fuck.

Just ate. Now homework. So tired. Get on that grind baby.

H4M, beastly fucking front squat.

H4M, damn man, great front squat, I got mine up to 305 last year, but that was after spending 5-6 weeks really focusing on the lift, really impressive that you could go in a do that without doing the lift much.

Dre, feels good to be reppin the training wheels doesnt it ? Thats what it called 225 in an old FLEX magazine, considering i was maxing out at like 195 at the time, this made me feel very weak and small, which at 17… I was.

Well guys, ive got a problem, im without at gym until i move to cincy in two weeks and start working at the school rec center.

I’ve had to step down from the assistant coaching position ive had with my alma mater’s football team because of the move, and when i handed in my keys, i lost my place to lift.

The coach is pretty pissed about me leaving during the season, but its not like i can put my life on hold to help out with a high school football team.

So its workouts in the basement for me for the next two weeks, ive got sand bags,a dip/chin station, an olympic bar and 200 pounds of weight, so i’ll get plenty of hard workouts in, just gonna have to take a small hiatus from the program that Nate gave me.

Its gonna be a bitch not being able to get under the bar for the next two weeks though.

I just cant afford to put down 100 dollars to join the city gym when i would only get 6 workouts in there.

Even though i wont have anything really worth a damn to log, i’ll still be around reading up on you guys’ workouts, and wishing like hell I could be dead lifting.

Actually I wouldn’t mind ending up in a predicament like yours all that much…it would force me to work on conditioning, which I hate doing. But until then I’ll just keeping lifting heavy haha.

Knew for sure that the 325 was going up, though it was tough, seeing I haven’t front squatted consistently in way too long. But no way could I let my bench beat my front squat lol.

I think I might just rotate deadlifts, front squats, back squats, and occasional box squats for ME squat/deadlift. Can’t WAIT to do board presses…mainly just cuz I’ve never done them before.

JB - you could always drive up here to Wisconsin and train with me in my gym. It’s free! haha

hungry - board presses are pretty fun. they are great for getting you use to working with weight equal to or heavier than your 1RM.

JB - sucks about the loss of the gym, but it sounds like you’ve at least got options in the meantime. What does not kill you…

I finished week 1 of Nate’s 9-week program today. looking forward to the coming week’s progression.

Today’s session:

Squat
6x3 @235

Bench
6x2 @185

As far as I know, most of the people in this thread are either still in school, or have careers that take quite a bit of intelligence.

Ignore him, he’s been trolling the forums for a while now…

Nice session, though.

Congrats on your workouts, guys.

Now go eat and lift something heavier next time.

Just went and bought a whole chicken from the grocery across the street.

It is no more.

Nice session, though.

I guess I need to go back and reference your post but what I got out of it was doing it on the smith and flare your elbows out and take it to your neck to get maximum tricep activation. I know this isn’t exactly the “In-human” way but I def. feel it more in my tris.

Ok, proud poppa to be here, gotta brag a bit. Here’s a pic taken yesterday or my little future powerlifting world champion! We didn’t find out the sex, want it to be a surprise.

Congratulations and my best wishes to you and your family, brother!

Hmm, as long as it doesn’t hurt your elbows and your shoulders stay pinned on the bench…

Do wear some elbow wraps, though (just use knee-wraps once you outgrow the elbow variety. Mueller neoprenes are great, BN mentioned those over at IM recently and I got my hands on some… Better than any others I’ve had thus far).

Makes a huge difference in elbow health over the years…
Especially if you plan on doing skullcrushers/extensions later on in your training career…

Same for knees.

dre, congrats on the successful breeding!

my own personal death by bodyweight today

Handstand pushups - 45 total reps
superset
Wide grip pullups - 61 total reps
superset
Hanging pikes - 45 total reps

Wow, this is maybe the best pump ive ever had in my shoulders and triceps. I guess verticle pressing 190 lbs will do that.

Dre, I’m so glad to hear that the baby is doing well. Congratulations.

So, I buzzed all my hair off to within a 1/4 inch about 45 minutes ago, people tell me i look kinda mean this way.

I like that.

Thanks fellas. I can’t believe how excited and relieved we are right now. Can’t wait to hit the gym tonight. I’m going to make sure I complete the whole lactic acid training session tonight!

JB - bald is beautiful man!

When i wear a shirt and tie to bartend ive had people tell me i look like a bigger Jason Statham (The Transporter,Crank, etc) so i’ve come to love to close buzz cut.

And starting 2 weeks from today i’ll be opening a gym every morning at 5 a.m, so the less time it take me to get ready, the better.
