I’d like to go lift today, but I have an issue. I’m coming down with a stupid cold. It started yesterday and my workout was about 90% as a result. I feel about 85% of my normal self right now, but feel like I am only getting worse. The question here is, do I go hit the gym now and get in a decent workout or try to rest up today and go tomorrow, risking the possibility of actually feeling worse and having a crappier workout or no workout tomorrow? Or will lifting today break me down and make me feel shittier tomorrow than if I rest?
THIS SUCKS ASS! I haven’t been sick in the least for 8 months - not a sneeze or a sniffle. I hate being sick AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH
85% is still not too shabby. Get yer ass in there and lift some iron. I would go and just make sure to keep it relatively light.

Well, I had a meeting come up and now I have a conference call to take in 45 minutes, so my day wouldn’t have allowed me to go anyway. Now I feel even shittier than earlier, so I’m thinking a good night’s sleep and some cold meds should set me right by tomorrow morning.

DC style shennannigans, I fucking hate that shit. 5 reps feels like an eternity.
Notes: It was nice to introduce some new exercises today and earlier in the week that I’ve never done before. I’d never tried decline bench and my buddy lifting buddy from school (I’m more like his trainer but we work out together, he weighs 151 hehe) says “omg dude I get SUCH A PUMP IN MY LOWER CHEST!! I FEEL SO HUGEEEE!!” so I tried it.
I like it, felt more chest stimulation than in flat bench. the 225 wasn’t that hard, no spot or anything, so the weight should be increasing nicely in the next few weeks.
Lat pulldowns I hadn’t done since 2007, and I was a bit weaker on them considering how strong I am on pullups. But I get a much better “pump” out of them than pullups and doing that and facepulls back to back made me feel like I was blowing up like a balloon (a good thing).
All else was good. Feelin’ good. Got a nice steak and some sweet potatoes waiting for me. Rhar
Think its just delayed a bit - for everyone. I know what you’re sayin about the DC style calf raises man - they do feel like eternity. And they hurt like hell lol.
Nice lifting guys. JB, why the crap are you a Yankees fan? You got issues my man.

jstines, I find that when I have a cold I feel best if I train, but with low volume and heavy weights. Sounds weird, but you should try it. Keep it up all ya manly men.
I’ve got deadlifts later - h4m your pulling has me pumped! I’ve been purposely starting from a point lower than my 1rm so I can gradually increase weight and surpass it - but now I’m tempted to pull something a bit heavier. Maybe I’ll just pull a really heavy double…

Yeah I’ve found really heavy doubles do wonders for my deadlift at least up to this point…hopefully they won’t fail me now. That second rep was extremely tough, I thought I was going to strain my glutes they were contracting so hard. I was so pumped after that set though.
It makes me all the more pissed about my weak bench though.
If you’ve never held DB’s overhead while walking in figure 8’s, you are in for a surprise as to how difficult this actually is!
I had a great session, felt good all the way through and I think my cold is going away. Good times!
I think me JB and xb have a decent idea of how the figure 8’s feel…like OH holds, except you’re walking around haha. Little bit harder. Glad you could hit the gym hard again.

The last 1/4 of the last Figure 8 was pretty sketchy. I almost had a 40# hex DB lodged in my skull. 4 reps doesn’t sound like much on paper, but you need a good amount of space to do this, so the lactic acid starts building up pretty bad around 2.5 fig 8’s and the 4th one is sheer willpower…lol
Well guys, its gonna be pretty touch and go for me training and diet wise the next three weeks or so.
I wont be able to train legs at all, and my meal timing is gonna be all screwed up.
Being on stage in front of a couple hundered people for a couple hours a night acting i cant really afford to be gimping around the way i usually do for the next couple days after my workouts. I also cant afford to be sore, as i have to do some pretty physical stuff on stage.
I feel like a bit of a bitch.
I completely expect to lose about 5-10 lbs.
Im not happy about it, but its just something that im gonna have to deal with.
I’ll still be able to get about 3 upper body days in a week.
Its about the most un-hardcore 3 weeks of my life, but as soon as its done, ill be back in full steam ahead mode.
