CC, 6 months of shitty workouts will kill anyone. What are you weighing now because of it?

I’m so f*cking sick of snow!
Tell me about it. I’m wandering in 40cm of ice and snow to the gym. I’m always just walking in my shorts and t-shirt, so if it’s heavy wind a lot of snow falling down too, it can get pretty cold.
The good thing is, it’s just a 1 minute walk.

Alright guys, anyone have any good advice for alleviating elbow pain?

I have been struggling with it for the past few months, but now its at a new level where something needs to be done. I am sure it is just tendonitis. The pain is on the outside of the elbow by the triceps insertion point. Both the area just above the olecranon and the olecranon itself hurt.

I have started some ice massage with a cup. Any other advice?

closegrips dont do much for me. i used to do reverse grips on the smith but i stalled out and my lift numbers actually went down. i could try it out again i suppose.

Hm. Did you do close-grips with a narrow grip or shoulder-width (or just inside) ? Elbows tucked?

Did you do reverse-grips back when you used to do like 4 work sets per exercise? If so, you could try them again if you want… The point is to come back and get stronger than you were last time after all.
How did you like them, any trouble with the setup/shoulders ?
i do then close grip- about 8 inches apart, shoulders back and elbows in.

i do reverse grips the same way except my hands are further out than my elbows…which is probaly why i fucked my shoulder up doing them.

I’m not qualified to answer, but I can give it a shot based on common sense and a couple of tips I picked up from a strength training anatomy book:

 1. Let the elbow rest for a period of time
 2. Be careful with extension movements (get rid of them, for a period)
 3. Do not lock out your extended arms on bench pressing movements until you are healed.

This is what I’m dealing with at the moment except my case dosnt seem as sever as yours.

I would start taking some ibuprofen.
Maybe some elbow sleeves would help in your case too.
I ice about 15 minutes after my upper body workouts, and as of today I’ve had no pain or discomfort I can tell of.

Just give it sumtime.

 4. elbow sleeves? They’ve been helping me.

Hit back and bi’s today. Was fun. Tried out “seated EZ bar curls” that CC mentioned once and I think I saw Dave Henry do in a vid. Anyways, here’s how it went down.

Rack chins

bw x 15
+20lbs x 10
+50lbs x 6
+75lbs x 11 + 6 + 4 + partials (21RP)

Yates rows

135lbs x 10
225lbs x 10
275lbs x 6
335lbs x 8
295lbs x 14

*lat stretch

Seated EZ-bar curls (these were fun)

50lbs x 10
70lbs x 8
95lbs x 14ish (maybe 15 or 16… i set the bar down for a few seconds a couple times)

Incline offset DB curls (went lighter, more controlled, etc)

30lbs x 10
40lbs x 18 (I took one break where I actually set the DB’s down… got to 14… set em down… stood up… realized I had more and I wasn’t gonna end the workout like that and grinded out 3-4 more)

*attempted bi stretch

Warmed up before all that with 10 minutes on the bike, then ended with 15 minutes on the stairmaster. And 35 minute uphill walk this morning. i’m gonna be beautiful, amirite??

Going downtown to dance my ass off tonight. More cardio - needing more food.

And you guys should see the video mike posted on my facebook wall. dear god.

God, I dont know whats gayer, you saying you were on the stairmaster, you saying you’re getting ready to go dancing(me too!) or the video Mike posted after our workout, flexing and telling Bug that he missed him, and thought about him during our workout.

todays visit to the Iron

Bench Press

195 x 5
205 x 5
215 x 8

I bench all chest, i dont get that sweet leg drive and arch that cam gets, im pretty sure my feet werent on the ground during one of those sets, I also bring the bar to my clavicle.

Im gonna tear a pec.

DB bench

70’s x 8
80’s x 8
90’s x 7-9 (cant remember)

HS incline

225 x 10
275 x 8
315 x 6

I got to 8 on the last set, but i think Cam rowed most of the weight, fucker.

Tri pushdowns w/ v-bar

120 x 20
120 x 14

Comments: So after the last two days, my ass if fucking kicked, looking forward to the off day tomorrow, maybe do a little bit of biceps.

well, im headed out, thinkin im gonna be doing a little karaoke tonight as well, ill prob sing my usual, Summer of 69, the ladies love it.

Today’s Back

Rack Chin:

+110 x6, 3, 2 (11 RP) +partials

Rack Pull w/ Shrug Back:

535x5*, 445x12

*Ok I need to either bring baby powder with me or wear pants next week for Rack Pulls. The fucking bar was dragging on my quads sooo bad that it made the shit go up WAY slower than it should have and left my quads feeling like I had just drug sand paper over them. Fun!

Decided to play with the shoulder a bit, stayed light though. I can tell my body is naturally averting most of my pressing power to my triceps instead of using the shoulders.

Smith High Incline:

155x10

Gunna just keep adding these in after back staying light but trying to progress and see if I can get my body to start using shoulders more than tris. So far I feel pathetic, lol.

Maybe I can get in touch with some of my dad’s German business contacts to open some good gyms over there, sounds like they need it.

My Dad worked for ThyssenKrupp for the last 30 years so I’ve met a ridiculous amount of wealthy germans, maybe I’ll see if Dr. Bart with bring me over there to start up a german fitness franchise.

A man can dream.

I also know a lot of people that own land in Liechtenstein, but thats just a fun fact, really doesnt have much to do with what we are talking about here.

Maybe you could persuade them to send me money on a monthly ba… Erm, never mind.

I doubt that we’re going to see any great new hardcore gyms in Germany in the near-future… Unless you can sort of have a regular fitness-center and then a hardcore-room in the back or something.
(I’m waiting for cheap jokes on “hardcore-room in the back” now.)

Interesting stuff though, be sure to try that franchise idea

Oh yeah, you may want to do that pretty soon or I’ll have to resort to making elitefts rich…
cc, man that sucks the most fitness oriented gyms over here dont even sound that bad.

C_C that does suck…now I see why you’re competing in the hamsterweight class, you don’t have access to enough weight to get into the guinea pig division. Poor guy.

Ya, me and JB did the same numbers basically. So I wont bother typing.

My triceps were really pumped from the workout, so i had to make a video for Bug.

Set a good amount for bench me thinks, should be able to do wave after wave.

Ummm. Ya I gotta eat less Wendys

the best part is he has one.

just cant be bothered to bring it to the gym.

Have you ever watched Rocky IV? C_C could train like Rocky did. Rocky beat Drago by training in a barn while Drago had access to the best equipment known to man!!!
Well, that doesn’t seem to work so well unless your goal is to be a 170-180 lb ripped, fictional boxing champion.

I’d rather have access to Drago’s equipment atm

CC - just move to USA and come to SoCal. We can be training partners!

Gone down to 278 (from 290+ )…
Part of that is due to a more strict diet and c-cutoffs, though.
And of course due to my dog stealing food all the time. Damn dog.

Going to try and find that temple gym tomorrow…
I’ve been looking for some private PL gyms btw, but actually couldn’t find any in the vicinity. Have I ever mentioned that Germany’s a country of pussies (not the good kind) and soccer-nancy-boys ?

Hope the roads aren’t gonna be too bad (living half-way up a small mountain sucks in winter when the only road I can use is like a 30° incline with no one to do any clearing duty and you have to drive off-road to allow other cars to pass).

But hey, gotta think positive. At least my dog likes the snow.
As long as my dog’s happy…

You’re gonna get jealous cuz your girlfriend will fall in love with me the moment we meet and you know it.

Seriously though, I’d actually like to move. Been thinking about it for a while, but yeah. That means starting from square one, work/employment wise and I don’t even know if they’ll let me in…

Lol man, what kind of dog do you have? My pit is a pussy when it comes to anything too cold. Haven’t taken her to the snow yet but I’m sure she would just freeze to death if I did. lol

That’s the funny thing… It’s a Rottweiler (Somewhat different from the stock-rotti though, I think his mommy was raped by an ox or something lol)
and he has very short fur… Still, he absolutely loves the cold.
