Brotherhood of Iron 2.0

Watch till the end and tell me that you honestly don’t care.

God damnit. I met this girl a few weeks ago and even though she’s not girlfriend material we go out and she stays the night and shit… well it’s really throwing a wrench into my eating and shit. I mean I’ve been eating but I guess not perfectly, at least not yesterday, and I didn’t get any sleep, and I am weighing 214 right now and I feel like I’m dropping weight wayyyy to fast.

I think I’m gonna kick calories up to closer to 3500 for a week or 2 and see what happens… keeping protein around 350-400g and carbs around 150 (not including veggies) and fats… idk, like 100 or so.

Did some ab-fat spot-reduction last night, huh?

Man, do you need advice on EVERYTHING?
Just let her be on top you moron, that way you won’t burn as many calories and your weight won’t drop so fast…

Lol man! For real though let her ride you and get herself off, then flip her over and get her on her knees - pound that shit and finish from behind. Not that I have experience with this or anything…

You need to just get up out of bed and make your breakfast whether or not she is ready to get up, that’s what I do and my girl knows why. And when I’m making my breakfast I usually make her breakfast too and just bring it to her while she’s still in bed. Works out for me on the eating and works out for extra brownie points/keeping her happy. And when she’s happy I get lots of BJs, which then makes me happy!

Edit: Oh and don’t be afraid to get up out of bed after your “done” and make a protein shake, I do that all the time too and my girl doesn’t bitch at me. Remember she’s not even “your girl” so she can’t really bitch about anything anyway, and if she does you just simply shouldn’t care. lol

I honestly don’t care. Where is the proof, the studies, the statistics that say you are more susceptible to pulled biceps from pulling with a mixed grip?

Shit happens when you start to lift really heavy weight. You are putting your body under an enormous amount of stress.

There are as many studies about that as there are about how to turn people into 300 lb bodybuilders. If you rely on statistics and studies for anything lifting related… Well.

How many bicep tears while deadlifting have you heard of which occured with a double-overhand grip?

I don’t think it needs a study to show why the bicep of the underhand-grip arm can easily tear during a deadlift… Same as for undergrip rows when you jerk backwards or you’re on a reduced calorie diet…

Your choice, of course.
I’d use a mixed grip too if I were some elite-level powerlifter and about to pull 900+ lbs off the floor without straps… I guess.

Just saying, brother.

This is what I thought too, since then I switched. I know I’m stronger with a mixed grip, but I’m not gonna risk it.

It’s sort of like in the same realm as doing really basic shoulder stuff to keep them healthy before you bench and. People say doing a good warmup will keep your shoulders healthy ect but no one wants to do it because they’re too lazy or think that they wont hurt themselves.

I take about 10-15 minutes before I lift to do some sort of dynamic warmup to help prepare my body to lift some weight. I think if you can do something that may HELP PREVENT any sort of injury that it would be a good idea.

But to each his own. I use straps a lot more now then before. But this is also the strongest I’ve been.

Priorities, man!

Mine are:

  1. School
  2. Sleep
  3. Food
  4. Lifting
  5. Chicks
  6. Everything else

And by the way, what’s wrong with multitasking? Do the “batman” a few times to practice, and after a while you will be sneaky enough to be able to eat a nice big steak while she’s on her knees staring into the wall at the end of your bed…

So, why is the bicep more prone to tears with an underhand grip? That’s what I don’t understand. I haven’t heard one person give me an anatomical reason why, everyone just says it’s more prone to tear.

From what I understand of bicep tears while pulling it’s because the lifter tried to curl the weight up at the end. So, I guess if you had a double over hand grip, you wouldn’t try to curl it, thus reducing your risk of bicep tears.

However, if you keep your arms tight and don’t try to curl the weight up with your underhand arm, you should be ok.

I hope these posts aren’t coming across as I’m attacking you or anything C_C. I very much value your advice. I’m just trying to encourage a back and forth conversation.

I’ll let this example explain:
Ever tried tearing a phone book in half? How would you do it? You make sure there’s some air between the pages, and align them so some of the pages are tight while others are loose… Then it’s easy peasy to tear it in half.

The same thing goes for the bicep tendon where it attaches to your radius. If you use a overhand grip while holding, all parts of the tendon share the load. Use a underhand grip, and some parts will be more stressed than others.

Btw, do not quote me on this unless someone with more knowledge of anatomy than me confirms. I’m not 100% sure.

Now that’s what I’m looking for. That’s a great answer pinkponyz.

I don’t need any kind of studies or anything personally. I can FEEL the bicep more stretched when it is underhand vrs overhand. Its pretty much impossible to feel any kind of stretch in the bicep while holding anything overhand…now hold it underhand - you will FEEL the bicep being stretched.

Take a supinated (underhand) BB curl for example…at the bottom portion of the lift you will feel a stretch in the bicep. Now take that same BB and hold it with a pronated (overhand) grip. Do you feel a stretch in the bicep at all? Nope.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH Josh and CC. You’re right I think I’ll prep a shake or 2 next time she comes over or I go there and that way I’ll be ok. She works out and understands my dieting… I’m just dumb. I gave it to her a little too hard last night I’ll let her ride more next time. She sadly doesn’t like BJ’s and since she isn’t my girl I’m not gonna push it.

Oh well. Off to go destroy chest.

Make sure she never becomes your girl then…seriously. Gotta find a girl that worships your cock and makes you feel like the man you are.

I would be honored!

On a bodybuilding related note…the conditioning thread got me looking through pics of Phil Heath. One of my best friends knows him personally and can’t say enough about how he’s a really nice guy, etc…told me I should go with him when he goes with him and a few other BBers to the Krispy Kreme Challenge this year.

Anyway here is my favorite bodybuilding pic I’ve ever seen. I absolutely love the pose and the emotion shown in the face.

did back today after a week long hiatus.

heres what i did

DL

385x5
385x4 (lame)

then i was so pissed that my numbers were going even further down (i had a 385x5 for 2 a few weeks ago, with gas leftover) that i dropped the weigh considerably

315x7
315x10
315x7

i thought i was only going to get like 5 out of my second 315 set but idk, maybe it was a good choice of music or something cause i felt like i could have forced one more out at the end but didnt want to hurt my back more.

i think this is also more evidecne that i just suck at lifting low numbers, basically anything 5<

then i did Cybex 1 arm rows with the thing set all the way back for a good stretch, plus i do this weird angle that really helps.

11 on stack x8,7 (right, left)
11x 8,7
11x 5,6
9x 8,8

that was it, only did 2 exercises but my back had an awesome pump.

**and since its relevant, i only use double overhand grip. sometimes when im shrugging ill switch grips but doing DLs its the only way i can do them. i feel very awkward trying to use mixed grip. plus if your grip starts breaking youll still have a hook grip.
