He doesn’t do any sissy squats? That’s a hack-squat machine he’s using… We do have a sissy-squat-type quad stretch though.
Yeah, hack squats are a great quad exercise.
Edit: Make that “machine hack squats are a great quad exercise”. Free-weight hacks suck balls imo… At least if your goal is to become a rather large bodybuilder.

Funny you updated that. For me, machine hacks are just so much better than free weight. Of course I never tried them on the Smith machine …

Smith machine hacks suck as well imo… It’s that holding of the BB, whether smith or free-weight and the awkward position + you can’t use as even remotely as much weight as on machine hacks/can’t progress as well…
And of course not everbody’s knees like hacks in general. On the machine you can work around that though…

I saw this while looking at some of Justin’s videos, what do you guys think of the sissy squats he does in the begging, any good for quad development, i have been looking for something new to try.

I know that it is a hack squat, and what he does later in the videos do look like hack squats, but he does some weird “sissy squat” looking thing in the beginning, i already do normal hack squats on the machine, but those at the beginning look interesting (a quad stretch you say?)

Ah, watched it again and now I know what you meant… So he does sissy squats in the hack-machine first… Hmm, never done that. I don’t like actual sissy squats, my knees start to rebel.
The stretch is a different thing, I just mentioned it because I was too stupid to realize that he switched stances during the vid.
Oh, the horror! I missed the “Y” when I read it the first time.
Just get in there, gather all the plates, lift heavy, growl and scare the shit out of people, and get out. And bring your own music, so nobody can disturb you while you’re lifting.
It might be an obstacle, but it’s not impossible to grow even if you’re training at the family ymca.

Yeah… Just let the obese people sit on the weight-stacks so that you can keep progressing past 30 lbs

I, like Christian, feel that the BOI is overhyped lol
Between all the info over at IM and the threads here I think I’ve got a pretty good grasp of the program. However, I’m sure I’ll come up with some questions, so thanks for the offer to email ya. I’ll probably take you up on that.
That was exactly the response I was looking for. haha

Kind of hard to do considering the place is PACKED with skinny kids curling and benching all over the place.
Maybe I’ll start death metal growling during my sets. That should scare people off.
That reminds me CC, the new Cryptopsy album is actually growing on me… I think people are just being uptight about it.
i keep hyping up this machine, it is easily the most difficult but also the most fantastic leg machine ive ever used. putting the seat so close that your thighs are on your chest makes getting that first rep extremely difficult. i dont know what its like to squat 405 ass to grass but im sure that the H.S. Leg Press is the closet you can come while still using an apparatus.
anyway heres my shit from today:
4 plates
x10
x8
x7
3 plates 20 all out set
my legs gave out after 17 so i got up for 10 seconds and went back for the other 3
3 plates for reps
x10
x5
x5 - start to finish. on the last i didnt use any bounce to get the weight up, i made sure to wait a second or two n then lift it again from a dead stop, had to use a little arm push to get it up honestly.
Leg Curl
180 on the stack
x8
x8
x6
…yea not taken it crazy on the hams but i do DL on Tuesdays.
Hammer Strength Leg Ext
25 plate per side
dunno how many reps, maybe 3 or 4 sets, i dont keep count on finishers, i just do them for a pump.
Today’s Arms - Finally lifting heavy again (it was only a week but felt like forever)
Smith RGB:
315x7.5, 4, fail (11 RP)
*Don’t know wtf it is about this exercise but the first rep of each set is ALWAYS the hardest. If I had gotten the first rep on that third set I would have gotten out at least 2 more reps, guaranteed.
Lying EZbar Extension (behind head):
115x11, 8, 4 (23 RP)
BB Curl:
115x10, 5, 4 (19 RP)
*Cleaned this up from last week, brought the bar all the way up instead of stopping when my forearms are about parallel with the ground. Controlled the eccentric very well, felt awesome!
Alt Hammer Curls (reps per arm):
80x10, 6, 5 (21 RP)
*Also brought these up a bit higher than previously, felt better.
Notes: real close to puking during second round of squats. I was afraid I was going to see my baconator again.
you did 52 squats total, not bad lol
I remember this workout from my last Sheiko…it sucked just as many balls. And I did this one with a higher max and in about half hour less time. Im kind of upset I didnt get to enjoy my baconator again.
