Bringin Back Squat Back

Seriously, why don’t you record your other training days for different bodyparts here as well? I’m sure everyone would like to see how you train.

You still doing Starting Strength?

Haha! I properly laughed at the starting strength thing.

I’m just terrible at keeping logs updated, but fuck it alright I’ll log the next week so you can see the sort of shizzle I’m up to.

Except dt79.

Fuck that guy.
I’m unintentionally sexually racist. I’ve only ever slept with white people. Not because I don’t want to, I just don’t live in a very ethnically diverse part of the world. And no, dt79, I’m not suggesting that you and I have sex.

I did once nail a chick from Luxembourg. The population of the entire country’s only like 500,000. I could make it my life’s work to have sex with every single person in Luxembourg.

Lol. How about including diet too?

What builds a sexy beast? GOMAD and vegetables?

Haha. The only white chick I’ve ever had was Russian. Had a couple of Eurasians of Dutch or Portugese heritage.

half white chicks are always the best. Half white-half asian, half-white half-black, half-white half-hispanic…

A large percentage of the women I’ve been with were of Eastern European descent. Funnily enough, I’ve never slept with a British girl (THOUGH I DID TRY TO).

I’ve been with many different flavors of women. I’m white, and it’s actually been a long time since I’ve been with one. I have been with a British girl before. I’ve had better. The accent was cool and all but the performance was underwhelming. My flavor of the week has been chocolate. Love them big ole booties with tiny waists. Latin chicks too. But this area is very racially diverse so picking them out of a crowd is easier for me than most.

Nah, man, bent press is totally a whole body builder. All bodybuilders should do it, look at my undeveloped body if you don’t believe me.

Oh ok lol.

I think the important thing about doing deadlifts while avoiding lower back pain is to not lose tension between reps. This does not mean you have to do them touch and go.

*I’ve stopped doing them btw. Prefer rack pulls now. Much easier on my lower back.
Funny you say that, but I have been pretty much just dropping my reps from the top position, then spending a good 10-15 seconds getting tight as hell against the bar before my next rep.

Rack pulls would be a much better option for me but I just really want to be able to deadlift again. The semi-sumo stance seems to be perfect for me so far.
Rack Pulls would work for sure. Much less stress on the lower back.
Has anyone else noticed they are weak as fuck from shins to above the knee on rack pulls, and just feel overall vulnerable from there? I got injured doing rack pulls a couple years ago so that may explain it, although I’ve always sucked at them.

No updates? I’m going to litter this thread with Asian jokes if you don’t update!

"A Chinese man walked into the currency exchange in New York City with 2100 yuan and walked out with $300. The following week, he walked in with another 2100 yuan, and was handed $276. He asked the teller why he got less money that week than the previous week. The teller said, “Fluctuations.” The Chinese man stormed out, and just before slamming the door, turned around and shouted, “Fluc you Amelicans, too!”

I feel this boils down to deadlifting style in most cases. Some folks are explosive deadlifters and essentially rely on momentum to blast through sticking points, and so when you put them in a position where they have to grind, you find an area where they haven’t been developing a lot of strength. Others are grinders who pull 315 about as fast as they pull 600, and are better suited for partial ROM stuff.

Yep, that’s kind of how it is for me. Good way to put it.

how does your back feel doing bent over rows? My back seems to have an angle where it’s weak as fuck, which is about the angle you do bent over rows from. I’m hoping deadlifts will fix it.

Off the floor is my weakness. If it comes off the floor, I’ll lock it out. Puny glutes.

Muscles can have something to do with it but, in my experience, strong vs weak off the floor tends to be more about set-up than anything else. Most folks pull with too wide of a stance at the start, trying to “squat the weight up”, and in doing so they’re attempting to break the weight off the floor with nothing but hamstrings and lower back. A closer stance can actually allow some leg drive.

This is for conventional though. Sumo is witchcraft.

I know, I know, I meant to update it. Fucking work’s been a fucking nightmare because idiots are letting me down which in turn makes me look like an idiot to my bosses. Such is life.

I’ve only trained twice so far this week, but I’ll get a session tomorrow and Saturday so I’ll just do the whole week for you in one go. I’ll post a typical day’s eats as well.

You are probably very correct. I think the 2 main reasons deadlift has crippled me in the past is because I was young and stupid, not knowing how to set up or brace my abs.

My technique is completely different now so who knows where my weak point will be once the weight actually gets heavy enough to be challenging.

My sympathies. Mild passive aggressive threats delivered with a smile in between words of encouragement and empowerment go a long way. Trust me, I’m Asian.
