My name’s Yogi, and I’m sexier than you.
But I don’t back squat…
UNTIL NOW.
Wish me luck.

lol, so the day before I was due to give back squatting a go I put my back out!
I can already tell this is going to be the worst log ever…
Now that is some mind control, just thinking about squats and your body says no way. Next time don’t think about doing them just jump into the rack and surprise it. Sorry about the back it sure can halt progress.
Sorry to hear about your recent setback.
How bad is the latest injury?

sorry for the late responses here guys, but you’ll be pleased to know I actually did some deadlifts yesterday!
I worked up to an awe-inspiring 100k for 3x3. Shaddap! I’ve got to start somewhere. Just working on form for now. Plan is to add 5k every couple of weeks, so I should top out about 180k by the end of the year barring any injuries.
Back feels a little fatigued but certainly not sore. I’m pulling in a semi-sumo stance (think Ben Bruno) as it feels the most natural.
Will keep this updated from now on (just the low back stuff, not going to bother logging my upper workouts or BB focussed leg stuff).
The funny thing is I actually have a little DOMS in my glutes! Haha

ach it wasn’t too bad, just one of those times when something tweaks and you go into spasm. Only lasted a few days.
Was actually speaking to a physiotherapist friend of mine (who is also a record holding strongman/powerlifter) and he seems to think that one of the reasons my back is so fucked up is because I’ve been too scared to try and strengthen it for so long, so I dunno, maybe the new spinal loading stimulus’ll cure me! I remain skeptical, but I won’t know until I try.
How’s everything with you?

I know, eh? My back is such a fucking coward! Haha
Oh yeah, and as of Tuesday (I’m away for a couple of days from tonight) I’m going to add a little core work every day. Swiss ball stuff like jacnkives and stir-the-pot. Nothing too crazy, just 5 mins or so every day more for activation work than anything else.
update number 2 in the world’s least interesting weightlifting log.
100k x 3 x 3 again today on deads, followed by 3 x 10 on the GHR. Only had a little time to workout as work’s fucking crazy just now so didn’t do the sled work I had planned. All about that hip extension, baby!
Back is definitely handling the light loads, and I’m fairly sure my technique is locked in so I’m going to start gradually increasing the weight. The hardest part is letting my ego deal with the fact I’m lifting such pussy weight. There were fitness models in for a photo shoot today and it was killing me looking like a pussy in front of them! Haha. Oh well…

That sounds incredibly plausible. I tend to see the most common/horrific back injuries from trainees that refuse to ever let form deviate, so in turn they never really train their backs to be strong in a vulnerable position.
Hope this works out for you.

Fuck red bull, bent presses give you wings.
Update numero 3 in my boring back rehab log:
110k x 3 x 3 on the deadlift. Was only supposed to go up to 105k but I couldn’t bring myself to only add those mimsy little plates.
Easy reps; back feels fine. Good times, noodle salad.
Your deadlifting off the floor?

yeah mate, sumo stance although my feet aren’t that wide apart.
110k for sets of 5, back feels fine, onwards to a mighty 120k.
Might hit 3 plates by the end of the month. Oooooohhhhh.
