Westside Week 1 Day 4 <-------- got it in in the nick of time.

Was super super burnt out and sore by Friday…I could barely move my body, lol! Felt like I was getting sick to so I pushed the last day ahead.
[/quote]

That tends to happen with people switching to Westside in the short term because they are not used to the intensity of the program. You will adapt and it will go away. Might take a bit longer to adapt if you have a physical job though, but it will happen.

Up~ yes it is lighter…I added quite a bit of blonde because I have quite a bit of grey lol. Blends much better

Aragron~ yeah I figure it will even out soon. Perhaps the extra work my body will have to do to get used to this will help with the few extra pounds of fat I put on as of late
Besides, change doesnt happen when your comfy

Something is wrong with my arm. Started to swell and bruise yesterday from my tri to my forearm. Went down over night but came right back today. No pain, full mobility except reduced due to the swell, and I cant ‘feel’ an injury. The tendons and muscles feel stiff…like I want to strecth them. Its warm but not hot. Bruised but the skin is not red.

What gives?? Grrr…

No training today.

I know this is a stupid question, but in the last 48-72 hours, did you experience any type of trauma to the area that you may have overlooked or not paid attention to because it seemed minor at the time (e.g., shifting a heavy dbell in an awkward manner)? I worked in a pain clinic for a while, and sometimes, having patients go through timelines helped them recall details potentially related to the pain/injury condition – details they had not otherwise noted. Finally, a less stupid question, have you had these types of symptoms before, even if at a much lesser intensity? I hope your injury continues to recover.

OH NOooo, I hope its just a fluke, how is the arm?

Not weird at all…I have been racking my brain too.

In the past 3 days I have…

uncrated, deadlifted off crate, and delivered 3 tractors
uncrated 2 fridges and layed them down to get the shipping crate off then stand back up
stacked mower boxes 4 high (new PR, lol)
carried shingle packs (bitches be heavy and awkward)
passed up plywood sheets to roof guy
loaded a washer
ripped a rug out
hmmmm some other things

SO I dont really know…

Also in the past week I started a new training program that calls for lots of tri work…and I think thats the problem.

Has it happened before? Yes once…when I decided I wanted to do a powerlifting comp. Coincidence??? lol
(at that time I was doing a program similar)

I think its the tri work.

Anyways…last time it happened I went to emerg coz I was like “WTF” and they treated me for blood clots! Rat poison to the stomach and pills and all kinds of stuff! Scared the HELL out of me. Took all kinds of tests and everything was negative.

What was the same? Heavy higher set tri work.

So I will take a few days off, and then work the tri stuff in better. I am going to start at 3 sets of 10 and each week add a set.

I am a muffin. I need to take iso stuff slow

Dear Muffin: I hope your time of rest is treating you well.

I dislike rest when I am feeling motivated.

My arms are no longer clubs.

in fact…CAN YOU SEE IT??? lol you can FINALLY see my bi from the back when I flex. About damn time

Westside (modified for muffin) Week 2 Day 2

3x65
3x95
3x105

Shoulder press
3x15 w/20’s

No swelling but my joints are all feeling pretty cranky. Maybe I am toxic

Carefully pushing ahead

Happy Friday T Nation.

Great that there’s no swelling!

Nice biceps showing in the earlier pic.

As for grey hair… :frowning:

Saw a rando post that said you had a log. All I can say is I wish there was at least 1 woman in the two gyms I frequent (read live in) that lifted and looked like you. Damn killing it. On that last back pic I now wish I had traps like you. Well done.

Thanks for stopping in 2busy  The grey hair is due to being a business owner. 6 years of that shit has done its toll on me

Ryan~ every now and then someone stops in here and leaves a note that inspires me again. Thank you for that. And know that you are the minority (in my group anyways) eh?, lol… I am starting to think that only guys that lift can take a woman that lifts hard too. Oh well, I am healthy and will be so ready for the zombies

Training update~ I am changing back to my Push/Pull/Lower 4 days per week routine. Sorry Westside but you were too much for me at this point  recovery, work, and you were not meshing. Its over

10x15 +bar

didnt push the tris as I had super arm pump going on( read tight and feeling swollen)…I’ve got not a clue as to whats going on with this silliness. Perhaps its because I have been inconsistent for awhile…or the heat…or lack of sleep…or I am a pussy and its in my head.

Cardio~
5 min trail run to baseball field
5 baseball field sprints (run one way walk back)
5 min trail run back home.

Kiss concert tonight!!! Slipknot opening!

I adore your attitude. I have never really been part of an online community really – especially as it relates to lifting. I find this whole process very motivating and fun. You are a great example for other female lifters.

Your probably right in that a only a minority if guys that don’t lift would appreciate a woman that does. Mainly they would feel like weak and like losers because of it. That comment about the zombies made me think of zombie and rules for surviving. I loled. Non of the guys in med school know to lift let alone the women. Solid workout and damn good concert enjoy

I see effort, discipline, and dedication when I see a woman who looks like she lifts.

Kiss???!!! Slipnot???!!!

I’m Jelly

rfstef2~ online communities have been great for me. I dont have any IRL friends that lift so it allows me to connect with other likeminded people. Everything I have learned thus far has come from online communities! Also everyone (mostly, lol) helps everyone. Its encouraging and inspiring.

ryan and 2 busy~ I made an error…it was Shinedown opening not slipknot (I must say I was a little relieved :D) I LOVE shinedown.
KISS was great too, awesome light show…they put on a good performance thats for sure!

Got home past 12am and now off to work for a bit. YAY for coffee!!!

Anyone else get insomnia or at least really poor sleep abilities around 4 am? For the past month I wake up around 3-4 and never fully get back to sleep. I dislike.

Shinedown has to be a top ten artist of mine

I have terrible insomnia now for about 2 years. It’s been at its worst after getting progressively worse for a year. This last year or so I am happy to net 3 hours of sleep while laying in bed for 8. I’ve tried everything and for me nothing helps. Really try to get a sleep routine. Black out the room. Keep it cool. Try and stay away from the tv or como (blue light) for at least 30min before bed. Could help it might not.

Yeah, I do those types of things and it doesnt seem to help. If only we could turn off our brains huh? I read a saying once that went something like… when you are little you are afriad of the monsters under your bed, but when you grow up you realize they live in your head. Something like that anyways, lol.
