Oh F#$! Okay, I’m panicking. I think I may have did something potentially serious to my left glut while squatting

Here’s what happened.
Mountclimbers until sweaty (squat warm up)
Squat bar x 10
mountainclimbers
20kg x 10
mountainclimbers
30kg x 8
mountainclimbers (I guess I just like to look like an asshole in the squat rack???)
40kg x 5 …something feels weird in my left glut/upper/deep ham
50kg x 3 …okay, it’s weird, but no problem, I feel strong
60kg x 3 …doesn’t feel right, but whatever.
65kg x 2 x 2 …see where this is going?
70kg x 1 (current max) …OOOOWWWWW…THAT hurt!!! …funny without the pain, def would have gone up 5-10kg.
cooling down
20kg x 5
stretching hips
10kg x 10
and stretching…
and now, after taking 1000mg of acetaminophen, it STILL hurts.
I have a dull aching pain in my left, medial? glut… hurts especially if I’m standing and bring my leg laterally across the other one. I dont know what I did… Maybe I didn’t warm up enough? too much volume?
How long should I rest it for? What can I do so this doesnt happen again?
So fine, there goes my ass, now I guess I’ll do quad isolations.
quad leg extensions or whatever they are where you sit on your ass and raise your lower leg. so boring.
20kg x 10 x 3
25kg x 8 x 3
30kg x 5 x 2
35kg x 3 x 2
40kg x 2 x 2
and back down
calves extension machine thing
20kg x 50
25kg x 30 x 2
30kg x 15 x 2
35kg to failure
and back down
My special abz work out
lay down. raise one thigh perpendicular to ground extend lower leg… now extend lower leg out in front of you so your thigh is about 65 degrees from the ground. then extend other leg out fully and point toe. With 5kg weight in hands (arms extended behind you, raise arms and pointed toe leg perpendicular to meet and at the same time push bent leg out straight. repeat both sides until failure. wipe your face with your shirt several times in front of the mirror to admire how hot you are.
The end.
srsly, my ass hurts.

It looks as though you didn’t warm up enough. Jumping directly to mountainclimbers, then going underneath the bar, with heavier weight…my guess would be your glutes and hams were still pretty tight, and not yet ready for the increase in weight. On squat days, I typically do a bit of a dynamic warmup, ie- high knees (to warm up and loosen my hips), front leg raises, rear leg raises, forward leg swings, lateral swings, a few slow, deep lunges (ensuring you get a good stretch), then move onto the mountain-climbers. It may seem like a bit much, however, in doing this for the past couple of years, I’ve avoided injuring myself while squatting.
And as CBear stated, alternate between hot/cold treatments, massage it, and rest it. You’ll also probably benefit from some light tensing/stretching work as well, although, I would give it a week before doing that. Don’t get discouraged, Bre. This shit happens to all of us.
