Can I still do these, even though I’m a girl?
Ha! That’s funny. I used to work for the jackass that wrote this article. He is a smart guy, but he doesn’t practice what he preaches. He’s 5’3 and hovering somewhere around 200lbs. And no, it’s most definitely not muscle… sorry, there may be some bad blood here!

And, I did some research, and it turns out that girl bums are the same as man bums, minus the fact that girl bums are spectacular. So, go ahead and do these.

I like your log.
damn you worked here, and you’re STILL level zero??? well…I trust your studies. thanks!
Haha, no no no… He is just a contributor, based out of the city I live in.
the super special secret city that only the cool people know about it!

Have I posted here and harassed you before? Or was that Masch?

I like to harass people. “It’s cultural, honey.”

But really, the “COW WRAPPED IN PIG” brought me here.

I’m…so…ANGRY!!! Pork DOES NOT GO WITH BEEF!!! There. I feel better. And for the record, a lot of what’s in that article, I do for my warmup. Not all of it. But a lot of it. I could bring down the Taliban with the strength of my glutes alone… yeah…

you should do that… win the war against #terror with your ass.

I took a whole week off for injuries. I feel lazy, but at least my shit doesnt hurt anymore.

Hope you get back to it!

Injuries suck.

Beast, my man, a good cut of COW should not be wrapped in pig, but they both taste great.

I love me some cow. Bisteca alla Fiorentina (porterhouse), baby.

I like mushrooms… BECAUSE THEY TASTE LIKE STEAK!

Okay, where was I.

So, today, against I’m_New_Feed_Me’s Advice, I got totally lost on my bike in the drizzle and ended up at a giant shopping mall in Wetzlar. That wasnt my intention, but that’s what happened. It wasnt all bad though, cuz I gotta new pair of desperately needed kicks - Reebock tone dat ass up or http://www.reebok.com/US/product?modelId=30038947

what the hell, why did it erase my workout!!!

ugh, it went something like bench, pullups, tris, rows, db curls. Im too lazy to repost everything.

Well apparently “that product is no longer available” so you must’ve got the last pair, heh.
I’m not convinced by all these arse-“toning” shoes - I call bullshit. But if they’re comfy and look good, then why not.

Now does it work??

well I DEFINITELY will not depend on them to do things to my ass that squatting will. I basically tried them on for the comfort. I have shit feet from tango dancing in heels and wearing the same pair of clogs for 5 years. When I get a new job, I’m going straight to the podiatrist and going orthopedic and hopefully I can repair some of the damage. I still go out in heels sometimes, but it’s foot suicide for me.

supposedly 23% added glute activation… I hope mine is better than this already.

I’m a firm (hah) believer in watching videos of movements performed with textbook form, and learning what muscles should be working, so I can focus on feeling those muscles work while performing that movement at the gym. At least, it helps me with mind-muscle connection.

e.g., if you know what the glutes are supposed to do (hip extension, for instance) and you perform a movement where your help is supposed to extend to move the weight, you’ll know the squeeze the glutes.

I have some really nice inserts (not as good as orthodics, but pretty good) that are thick and have a half dome looking bump in the center right under my arch. I use them in all my shoes and for a while I had pain, but after a month the pain went away.

I also GENTLY roll my soles on a tennis ball (while sitting, NOT standing, else you can tear fascia) and sometimes ice the soles afterward, if I’ve had a long day of walking or standing. Fasciitis SUCKS. Very painful…

I ALWAYS forget to buy a damn tennis ball (or I always remember to buy one on Sunday and all the damn stores are closed here  thanks for the advice.

Just to clarify, I like beef AND pork. Just not together.

As for the shoes, I don’t buy into all of that, really. I’m more into the mind/muscle connect, as Ponce mentioned. That works a lot better than some shoe…although…I shouldn’t say that as I’m a shoe whore. I now own three different pairs of the Vibram FFs.

I gave up on orthotics for my right foot (peroneal nerve damage), so I wrap it in an ankle brace and go forth.

Glute Circuit (daily, until they stop breaking)

Hip Flexor Stretch
10s x leg x 10

Sky Humps
50

Piriformis Stretch
10s x leg x 2

Fire Hydrant
leg x 20 x 2

Alphabet (but I prefer 13 squares, 7 circles, and 6 figure 8s)
leg x geometric alphabet x 1

One legged squats off my knee high bed
leg x 10 x 3

one legged squats off side turned beer crate (as high as a 1.5 liter of beer)
leg x 10 x 3

one legged squats off beer crate (1.0 liter of beer high)
leg x 1 x 20

Bulgarian split squat off said beer crate
leg x 10 x 2

Repeat circuit x 3…I mean 2 circuits. I need to see how I feel tomorrow… damn!

nerve damage from kicking ass right?

Since you all are on the subject of feet/shoes… There is a bit of a trend going on at one of the suburban commercial gyms that I train at sometimes. People are wearing those shoes that have toe pockets. Look kinda like gloves on your feet. Ever seen them?

I started the trend at my gym. I used them for running first, but then quickly started using them for all weight training. The idea is that they help you strike more with your front and midfoot when running, which is what we would do if we ran naturally or barefoot. Modern running shoes however encourage heel strikes which are actually the bodies natural braking mechanism if you will. Those repeated heal strikes lead to damage to the feet, shins, knees, all the way up to your hips over time. I had awful shin splints when running for the longest time, but they went away within a week or two of using the Vibrams. They also encourage the muscles of your foot’s arch and ankles to develop more as they are supporting themselves instead of having a shoe do it for you, which leads to atrophy over time. You also learn to grip the ground more with your toes, which is what we would do if we were running around naked in forests still.

Ironically, for weight training and exercises like squats and deadlifts the Vibrams help you really connect with the floor and push through your heel. They also get you lower to the ground than a shoe that has a heel on it. For things like plyometrics and jumping work you can really feel the power coming through your heels, and also feel your toes as you leave the ground. The muscles in my toes are still sore from my jumping work I did on friday.

They’re a great purchase, they aren’t too expensive, you can run inside or outside in them, and they’re even machine washable.
