Brendan's New Beginning

I’m still here guys. Don’t worry.

Well, I started working with IA last Sunday. Right now, I have completed 2 workouts - legs and shoulders and arms. It feels like someone took a baseball bat to those areas of my body. I haven’t been sore like this in quite a long time.

The workout was pretty much what I expected. It looks simple but is a ball buster. We’re pretty much deloading myself for now as I was obviously overtrained prior to working with him. Unfortunately, I can’t post all the workouts but I will post an exceptional one every now and then. Look for one maybe next week.

I’m even more impressed with the diet/supplementation plan he has given me. This guy definitely knows his stuff. I’m excited to see what I can achieve under his guidance.

OK so time for an update.

I just started week 3 with IA and since being on a diet of about 3100 calories, I dropped 6lbs in two weeks. LOL Needless to say, we upped the calories a bit.

Here’s a video from tonight of my second squat set. It was 300lbs for 16 reps but the last one was a bit shallow. Also, my buddy moves around a lot a turns the shit sideways a couple times but you can see the depth on a couple reps. Most were to parallel or a little past.

Good to see you back posting here and still training balls out. Im interested to see how you do working with Wes. I havent heard anything negative about what he does so Im sure youre going to kick some ass with him.

Good strength Brendan, that video about gave me a seizure though haha. Is it possible to get a general framework of what Wes has you doing? Is it like any of his “top” routines listed on his site?

Also for diet is it a targeted carb diet like I’ve seen him talk about or something different?

So far I really enjoy it. He’s always there to take questions and stuff. I feel like I’ve learned a ton already.

Right now he has me training 3x per week on a Poliquin-inspired split.

It’s

Sunday - Arms and Shoulders
Monday - Legs
Thursday - Torso

I’m not on a TKD as I’m not trying to lose fat.

The macros are:

Protein: 350g
Carbs: 300g (non-training day) 350g (training day)
Fat: 85g (training day) 100g (non-training day)

It’s the supplementation that’s really cool.

We should be switching routines after next week.

I’m sorry I can’t give anymore details than that.

Does anyone have problems on rack deadlifts with the bar hitting the rack unevenly?

YES…the only thing that helps is slowing down my reps and focusing on perfect form rather than absolute effort.

By the way, who is this Wes fellow?

Thanks Brendan I just wanted a glimpse into how he had it set up for you since it doesn’t seem like he’s married to any particular style .

As per the rack deads that happens to me sometimes and for me at least it’s because one arm is longer than other(broken forearm when still growing) and I have to move the longer arm out about an inch wider. Have someone watch you from a couple different angles and see if they can identify what the problem is.

Wes=IronAddict

www.ironaddicts.com is his site. Very well respected trainer and reportedly(never seem him myself, Brendan do you have a pic?) a very large mammal himself.

He’s NOT married to any particular style. You’re right. It’s a common misconception that he a low volume, hardgainer kind of guy. I’m glad you know that.

As for his size, I’ve never seen a picture but he told me some of his measurements once. He’s pretty fucking large.

OK so I gained back 3 of the 6lbs that I’ve lost so far…LOL

I’m starting a new training program tomorrow. I’m excited.

Long story short: I injured myself by tearing my calf Tuesday night while leg pressing. I’ll not be able to do legs for a while.
