Brendan's New Beginning

April 29th, 2007

After getting my ass handed to me at my first show, I decided it was finally time for a “New Beginning”

I will keep you guys updated but I do not intend to post every training session like I have in the past.

Here’s why:

I have found that 1) high frequency 2) pyramiding weight 3) going to failure ONCE and 4) frequently changing
programs has worked for me.

As such I will be training twice a day on a program of my choice until I either
A) overtrain as measured by
morning heart rate, apetite, sorenesss, sleep quality and desire to train or
B) fail to progress.

There will be no days off until one of these two conditions happens. How many days
off will be an experiment. At first, I will attempt to begin again as soon as soreness subsides and my morning heart rate decreases. I will probably do cardio and abs so as to control bodyfat.

I will also post progress pictures and measurements fairly often.

As for my diet, I won’t post it everyday but rather every now and then when I have the time. I plan to experiment with low carbs as that is what I have found my body likes. I will consume carbs on weekends and post training.

In terms of supplements, I intend to experiment with high dose fish oil, BCAAs between meals, high dose digestive enzymes and various individual supplements one at a time so as to accurately assess their quality.

I intend to do the 2008 teen nationals. Until then I will be getting as big as possible. That is really why I did so poorly. I just didn’t have the mass - especially in the upper body - that the other guys did. Once I get pictures from graphicmuscle you’ll see what I mean.

I trained twice today. Whole body sessions pretty much. Low rep in the morning and high rep in the afternoon. I have been eating my ass off and am bloated as hell. I should have some muscle memory coming as I lost a ton of muscle for this show.

IT’S TIME TO GET BIG.

Welcome back you son of a bitch.

Now stop typing and start eating, matter of fact im gonna take my own advice and go destroy some steaks.

see ya at the BOI.

Awesome!

Your other log was bad ass this bulk your definatley going to add a ton of weight to all your lifts. Cant wait to see how far you get with this bulk.

Fresh starts are the best.

This is gonna be good. I’m really interested in super-high frequency training like this (something that first gauged my interest in one of CW’s D-Taps).

Good luck man, although you probably won’t need it haha.

I trained quads, hams, chest, tris and shoulders this afternoon. I won’t even post the weights yet as they’re pretty pathetic.

Here’s some of my contest photos:

Your dedication is damn near unbelievable. Having said that, I think [just an opinion] that you shouldn’t even think about competing for a few years and just focus on adding as much muscle as possible. Whatever you decide to do, I wish you the best.

You must have been putting your speedo on when God was handing out the brains…

What’s up B, good to fucking hear from you. Don’t worry about your results man, the pics look great. You got more guts than me bc I sure as hell havent stepped on stage yet.

Getting big is my forte bro, anything you need, hit me up.

I don’t care if you post every day or every now and again, I expect you to show up at BOI from time to time, we need your dedication and commitment.

Great work Brendan! Your dedication and hard work is inspirational. Looking forward to your return to the BOI.

Trust me that is what I intend to do.

Comments:
All sets are only taken to failure on the last rest pause miniset. Extreme stretches are done after the exercise. Some bodyparts like chest and shoulders get a nonfailure widowmaker before the extreme stretch.

I lost A LOT of strength from my diet but I’m gaining it back everyday and this journal will prove it. I trained bis, abs, calves back width and back thickness this morning. I probably won’t train tomorrow morning. We’ll see about the afternoon.

great to see you back brendan. cant wait to
follow your training as you get bigger

That looks kind of like DC…am I right in that assumption?

I had a friend gain 50 lbs on DC over 8 months.

I am sure he was on a low carb diet when he did this…

You look great in your pictures Brendan. Be proud of what you have accomplished and keep training hard.

No, he was on the 2 bowls of oats for breakfast and 8 hamburgers for dinner diet.

He did the morning cardio though, so he managed to keep his bodyfat relatively low.

I did DC in the past and some of the ideas worked for me. So yes, it is DC inspired but I wouldn’t call it DC as it’s more frequent and I don’t do forearms. I do abs instead.

Comments:
I’m so weak now it pisses me off. I’m getting stronger everyday though. I need to record the deadlifts next time for critique. No training this morning but I will definitely be doing something tomorrow morning. Again, this is the final set after about 3 warm ups. I didn’t rest pause the deadlifts as that would be stupid.
