Great to hear Bushy, if you don’t mind, I’d be interesting in updates on how your prep is going.
What’s the ETA?
TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) & lipofuscin: a report from my doctor’s visit
I had a TBI as a teen, didn’t realize that was what it was (knew I hit my head on the concrete, just didn’t know I had a TBI). Got my med records from the hospital last summer, the doctor there then (many years ago) had written down “Closed Head Injury”. That was how I found BFB here on T-Nation. Long read, lots of checking of claims, started my first stack Jan 2011. I included centrophenoxine specifically because it supposedly wiped away lipofuscin, and I theorized that the impact may have increased the lipofuscin in my brain beyond normal aging.
OK, so I just went to see my holistic M.D.; he never heard of centro, but confirmed that TBI might increase lipofuscin. He said that hydergine wiped it away too; he also recommended a hyperbaric chamber, but said it might take 20-30 times (can be as frequent as once per day). He also thought the hydergine and hyperbaric would be synergistic.
He gave me a presription for hydergine (I looked on the webz, can’t see how to get it), so I’ve got my pharmacist looking for some.
Cool stuff Superfast(not the head injury, although this will be an interesting experiment for you), keep us updated.
All the best

Interesting. Did he say why the hyperbaric chamber might help? Since O2 is (obviously, lol) an oxidiser and toxic, I would be wary of overuse.

“The theory is that the pressure created by the chamber causes oxygen in the blood to dissolve, allowing more oxygen to flow through the body and repair damaged tissue.”
“One of the most recent applications of HBO therapy is in the treatment of individuals with traumatic brain injury. This web site was designed to provide you with general information about hyperbaric oxygen treatment, how it works, who it is used for, recent research findings, and additional resources.”

That’s amazing, I wonder how he’s doing now.
I now find that the piracetam and centro I got in Jan 2011 are no longer available (“out of stock”), and even though I got a prescription for hydergine, neither I nor my pharmacist can get any. Wtf? Is there a crackdown on these substances in the U.S.?
Geuss the US gov’t doesn’t want their citizens getting too smart.

Your Pharmacist should be able to get some, if not take it to another pharmacist.
I believe it’s also possible to get it from a pharmacy abroad with a valid prescription (Canadian works).
Pira may not be legal to sell in the US, or at the very least was in a position to become so, last I knew, so many manufacturers weren’t going to carry it and were trying to liquidate their stock.
I haven’t heard anything about Centro, but the place I ordered some from informed me that they were out of stock but that they expected to have more by mid-July, we’ll see if they come through.

If the treatment works by delivering more O2 to the brain, then surely a cranio-specific vasodilator such as vinpocetine would be a synergistic adjunct.

Yeah, telling my holistic doc about the stacking of nootropics was what made him mention the hyperbaric; he thought it would be synergistic.
Just posting something I’ve noticed.
Before bed, I’ll take some DMAE, ~600mg-1000mg, and I have really vivid dreams, and a very cozy, restful sleep.
Anyone else experience this? or the opposite?
I’m wondering if the DMAE is increasing REM(which is when you have dreams?), and is also connected to more restful sleep. Or am I mixed up?
Did it again last night, same results.
I have also woken up a little earlier than usual, I’m pretty programmed to waking up just before my alarm clock, but these past two nights, I went to bed at the same time (11 pm), and I woke up at around 5 am, felt rested(that warm cozy feeling from a good nights rest, at least for me), but since I didn’t have to go to work for about another 2 hours yesterday(~7 am), and about 3 hours today(~8 am) I got to stay in bed as long as I normally would.
So that’s pretty sweet. Great rest in less time, plus getting to sleep more because I woke up earlier, but more rested. Hope that came out correctly.

I seem to be getting similar results from Alpha GPC. In addition to waking up early (sometimes 15 minutes, sometimes 2h) I dream more often. Without AGPC it’s normal for me to only dream once a month or so. With AGPC I probably dream 1-2 times a week, sometimes several days in a row.
Yeah same here, before the DMAE pre-bedtime, I don’t think I’d even dream once a week.
I’ll see if this continues, and make a post later.
You guys don’t just remember the dreams better? ![]()

Well, I wouldn’t know, since I don’t remember ![]()
By “no dreams” I mean “zero recollection of any dreams first thing in the morning, or later, whether there were any or not”. I don’t know much about dreaming, so whether I do dream more often with no memory or not, I have no idea.
