I was just curious what everyone thinks about those copper and ionized bracelets for getting rid of aches and pains. I personally think they’re a bit hokey, but I know a lot of people that swear by them. I imagine it’s probably a placebo effect for most, or is there actually something to them. My girlfriend’s father has rheumatoid arthritis; he had been taking mass amounts of pain medications, with little to no relief. He decided to give one of those bracelets a chance, and he is now completely pain free, with no meds. Needless to say that caught my attention. I also read on Dave Tate’s website that he use to have a lot of pain in his shoulders that subsequently disappeared when he began wearing an ionized bracelet. Is there actually something to these things, or is it all in the head? Even if it’s all in the head, at least people are pain free.
When designing structural components, you have to be careful of the mix of metals, because you can create what amounts to a low level battery that will corrode over time. Basically that’s what these bracelts are, and the magnetic field they create may provide some relief by shutting the ion gates in the nerves transmitting pain signals. That’s the same theory that therapeutic magnets work under. I would imagine the depth of penetration for the magnetic fields these bracelets create would be pretty small, but on the wrist it may be enough. Can’t argue with results, though.
Last night I saw that Bill Kazmier(did I spell his last name right?) endorsed these things. To bad it was on an infomercial.
Pure bullshit. If you knew the first thing about electrostatics you would know these bracelets can’t do shit. Any perceived effect is placebo. End of fucking story.
