Boxing and kickboxing

I never see any suggested weight lifting routines for boxers or kickboxes. I don’t have gym membership, just a kickboxing gym and all we have is freeweights as far as weights are concerned… Any suggestions?

What state are you in? I just started back up again at a kickboxing gym and put the weights on hold for about a month or so. These workouts are kicking my ass. I’m in poor shape when it comes to my endurance. I more or less let people pound on me because I’m so winded I really can’t do anything but put my hands up and defend. After I get back to my fighting weight I plan on doing a three day routine.

I hope I don't run into over training but on Monday I plan on doing chest/bis, Wednesday Back/Shoulders, Friday Legs,Tri. This is a bit of a goofy split but when I do back (deadlifts) I am so sore the next few days my back soreness hinders some of my other lifts. I got the boxing gym Mon - Thursday. I will work out on Mon/Wed before I go to box. I am going to look into more of Coach Davies stuff because I want to increase functional strength.

Charles Staley does a lot of stuff with martial arts conditioning. There’s also an article floating around about Fred Hatfield and the program he used with Evander Holyfield. Pop that into Google and see what you come up with.
