Boxer, Trouble Dropping Weight

My buddy has a pro fight Feb 15. He still has to drop 14 lb’s and get used to it. He’s been doing all the usual methods but nothings working for him this time. He’s getting stressed out. Any suggestions?

What does he weigh now? Does he usually cut any water or lose all the weight ahead of time? Where was he when he started his training camp?

14lbs shouldnt be a big deal for a professional fighter.
In truth & honesty two weeks out, 14lbs should be where he is at if he’s up to date on cutting to maximise muscle.

Obviously carbohydrates will be restricted in the last couple of weeks.
Drop the caloric intake a touch.
That with the last couple of hard spars should get you to the 10lb mark easily.

I’d become familar with the sauna- not for weight loss now, but for acclimatisation if he will use it before the fight.
I just spotted a few wrestlers on the boards- they would be excellent guys to discuss hypo-hydration and water restriction with.

The most important thing is getting yourself to a position to where you can renourish to a point where you are as strong as you were before the cut.

As someone who is also fighting on february 15, and has 20lbs to lose, I wouldn’t sweat about it.

He still has 2 weeks to lose some weight and can easily dehydrate the remaining pounds without overexerting himself
