I’ve yet to meet someone that has too strong of posterior chain. We use box squats most of the time even for raw lifters. Also, you use less weight so your recovery is better.
I haven’t taken a straight weight max in awhile. Last week, I did 635 + 120 lbs of chains + 100 lbs of band tension with my straps down off a box.
I am a baseball player so the eccentric to concentric chain movements in the upper body should be quick and explosive for maximal pitching velocity. I also have weak adductors witch cause my knees to fall inward during heavy ATG squats on the concentric part of the lift.
With this in mind would box squats be more benefitial for an athlete looking to gain strength and power or would ATG squats help more for maximal force production during the pitching delivery?

Louie Simmons says if you can jump to a 20" box with 140 lbs then you’re explosive. It’s not too hard to get there if you box squat with bands and chains. I can do it for sets/reps.
