I was wondering if box squat can be beneficial for a raw lifter, or if they would just be a waste of time
almost anything can be beneficial if implemented correctly. What kind of squat form do you use? What are your weak areas? Do you have any injuries that limit how often or how heavy you can squat?
I squat high bar, my weakest area is coming up after i get out of the hole
Yes it can be helpful. My suggestion is to run it in an offseason set up and not for meet prep.
